John Langellier - Southwest History and Scouting with Buffalo Soldiers - John P. Langellier is a historian from Tucson. John is a prolific author who's written a LOT of books. His latest covers one of the Buffalo Soldier units from Southern Arizona. It's an interesting note that Buffalo Soldier is not a very descriptive term. US units throughout the west employed black soldiers in a variety of capacities...but damn did they do it well in the Ft. Bowie/Huachuca region. You will LOVE his latest book Scouting with the Buffalo Soldiers: Lieutenant Powhatan Clarke, Frederic Remington, and the Tenth U.S. Cavalry in the Southwest Pete A Turner grabbed the episode with John as he began his road trip. Bryan Fuller - Rowing Around the World - If you've been around for a while, you know our friend Bryan Fuller. Fuller founded Power Rowing in Brookline Mass. Bryan's gym is a hit and he's been creating a community of health-minded folks with powerful charitable charters. How'd Bryan get into rowing?  Pete recalls, "Bryan wanted a big task...and suggests to me that he was going to row across the Atlantic on a team...despite never really being a rower. In true Fuller fashion, got the job done and set a record as the fastest American to accomplish that incredible task. Then in 2020, Bryan set his sight on the overall record...then COVID canceled that attempt. Undaunted, Bryan and a muli-national crew are about to set out to row around the world. Nate Nelson - Stacking Air Support and Living - United States Air Force Captain Nathan Nelson suffered a spinal cord injury from a rocket blast in Afghanistan. He has no movement below his chest and limited use of his hands. Captain Nelson was part of a special operations team that took heavy fire in September of 2013 during his third tour in Afghanistan. Luckily, none of his fellow soldiers were injured in the attack. He was immediately flown back to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and, after a dozen surgeries, he’s working through rehabilitation. He was then sent to James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, where he is still undergoing treatment. The DOC - No Longer Carrying the Pain - Growing up in the 80's means that Pete A Turner and his age peers witnessed the birth of Rap and Hip Hop. One of the most influential bands of all time was born in that era. David Eubank - Free Burma Rangers - The Free Burma Rangers (FBR) is a multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement working to bring help, hope and love to people in the conflict zones of Burma, Iraq, and Sudan. Working in conjunction with local ethnic pro-democracy groups, FBR trains, supplies, and later coordinates with what become highly mobile multipurpose relief teams. After training these teams provide critical emergency medical care, shelter, food, clothing and human rights documentation in their home regions.
