Jorge and Sofia join the podcast to talk about their first exposure to SHPE in high school. They talk about getting a head start in their college prep and what it was like transitioning from high school to university. They also share insight on their first conference experiences and what it is like to find a job today with the world being how it is. 

Jorge Moros is a 3rd year Industrial and Systems Engineering Student at the University of Florida. Jorge first joined SHPE in his sophomore year of high school at Cypress Bay High School’s SHPE Jr. Chapter. Since then, Jorge has been involved in SHPE and currently serves as SHPE UF’s Vice President of External Affairs.

Sofia Serna is a 3rd year Civil Engineering student at the University of Florida. She first joined SHPE her sophomore year of high school in 2016 at Cypress Bay High School's SHPE Jr. Chapter. Since then, she has continuously been active in the organization and currently serves as SHPE UF's Vice President of Marketing.

Arnold Morales joins the podcast to talk about his Nontraditional journey to success. He shares about all the rejections he got before landing his dream company. Andres and Arnold also share their stores about recruiting and how students can approach recruiters in new and different ways. 

Arnold is a systems engineer at Boeing, LinkedIn content creator, and founder of Nontraditional College Success. He specializes in helping engineering students and professionals land their dream job and what school doesn't teach engineers to be successful. Arnold has given presentations to 50+ groups with some audiences in the hundreds. He has been a professor, recruiter, and scholarship interviewer. Arnold also is on advisory councils for Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College.

Carlos Arboleda takes us back to his early days in SHPE and what it was like to overcome his own self-doubts. Carlos talks about what it was like leading a SHPE chapter during COVID and taking a chance to move towards self-discovery.

Manuela Morales Neira shares her journey through 10 internships and jumping between industries. She shares how important it is to understand your why and opens up about her struggles and learning opportunities as a woman in engineering. We cover it all!

Manuela Morales Neira is a Battery Manufacturing Engineer for Rivian. She is a driven and open-minded individual who enjoys using her interdisciplinary background and skills to contribute to the advancement of the exciting world of electric vehicles. Manuela graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2021 with two Bachelor's Degrees (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering). While in school, Mamuela completed 10 internships, one co-op, and a 3-semester research experience. She was also heavily involved with different engineering societies such as FES, SWE, and SHPE. During her free time, she enjoys brewing beer, cooking, and practicing yoga!
