Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, in a dramatic development in the Epstein files investigation. Breaking the news live on Talk, Julia Hartley-Brewer told listeners that police had arrived at the Sandringham estate, where the King’s brother is currently living, marking an extraordinary escalation in the long-running scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, confidential government information and years of unanswered questions.
Speaking in studio, Reform UK’s Shadow Chancellor Robert Jenrick said: “Nobody is above the law in this country.” He added that “the crimes that have been alleged are very serious and the police need to do whatever’s necessary to follow the evidence,” while acknowledging that many will ask why it has taken so long for this moment to arrive. “You’re right to raise questions about why it’s taken so long for this to come to a head,” he told Talk.
The arrest follows mounting scrutiny over the Epstein files, allegations relating to Andrew’s time as UK trade envoy, and claims that confidential information may have been shared with the convicted sex offender. While no charges have been brought and Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing, today’s arrest represents a significant turning point in the Prince Andrew–Epstein scandal and raises fresh questions about accountability, transparency and whether the establishment has finally been forced to act.
