Embark on a courageous and compassionate exploration with us on “Breaking Chains, Building Bridges: A Decolonial Journey through Suriname”. This deeply impactful learning session is an earnest attempt to navigate the painful chapters of Suriname’s history, particularly focusing on the marginalized narratives of the indigenous people who endured profound suffering and continue to face systemic neglect. This session is a call to action- a commitment to recognize and redressing historical wrongs, a dedication to amplifying silenced voices, and an exploration of how we can collectively contribute to building bridges toward a more and inclusive Suriname. Join us in this journey of deep reflection, empathy, and the pursuit of a truly decolonized and reconciled future.
Bio Speaker: Lokono and Kaliña Descendant from Surinam, teacher, social worker and motivational speaker active in Whe Khalwabetjie and Khose. Activist fighting for acknowledgement and rights of Surinamese Indigenous peoples, amongst other places also in a women collective called ‘Native Power’.
