Tariffs are a tool for controlling imports and exports, not necessarily a cause for alarm, as tariffs have been an economic tool utilized by leaders for decades. Despite the market's reaction, he argues that the tariffs are designed to ensure America gets the best deals and leverage in trade.

Brett also discusses the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the debate over moving it under the Department of State. The USAID's budget is over $50 billion annually, which some view as wasteful, while others, like Rep. Jamie Raskin, oppose changes to its structure.

Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT is here for this Monday episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo talk about President Trump's initial tariff actions and the widespread concern it caused, particularly with Mexico and Canada. Both countries are requesting pauses in the tariffs, and they speculate if this could be part of a broader negotiation strategy that might involve the European block.
