"As someone who was caught in a cycle of abuse with someone who had an ICE addiction who lost the plot at one point and things became life-threatening for myself and for my children, so I am no stranger to this topic. Three things I advocate for on my podcast are for women to put their safety, sanity and well-being first by tapping into the right support to remind them that everything can be figure-out-able no matter how complex the challenges are that they are going through. Although my wake-up call came that I possessed the keys I needed to be free from a domestic violence situation, people fall victim to all sorts of destructive cycles that ultimately hold them back and stop them from moving forward and achieving their hopes and dreams. It is easy for us to become victims to all sorts... victims of circumstance, victims to oppression, victims to abuse, victims to substance abuse, victims to self-sabotage. For me what I discovered is that under the layers of being a victim, whether it was to someone else, something else or by my own limiting beliefs, I ultimately held the keys that I needed to be set free." - Sandy Johnston
