In this episode of Breaking Goodman we are discussing season 6 episode 13 titled “Saul Gone.” Saul is faced with the end and he’s goes through a few different ways of how to face it. More or less going through the stages of grief within the episode. He’s caught fairly quickly so we avoid a “dumb fugitive” as Sam put it, with Marion delivering the final blow. Ultimately he trades his 7 1/2 year sentence for 86 years to ensure Kim’s safety. This does not go unrewarded as they share one final moment together. We will be back for one more episode to wrap up the series. Be sure to subscribe, because there’s no drop date. If this is your exit, thank you so much for joining us. Please check out our other podcasts covering House of the Dragon, the Rings of Power, the Marvel universe, and more.

In this episode of Breaking Goodman we are discussing season 6 episode 12 titled “Waterworks.” We see what’s become of Kim after she left Jimmy as her simple life in Florida gets upended by a call from Viktor St. Claire, which sends her on a path to right some wrongs. Jimmy is all Saul as he deals with her both in the divorce proceedings as well as his call to her at work. Gene gets overconfident and causes Jeffy to do something stupid. Marion puts the pieces together using her new laptop, which can do more than just look at cat videos. It’s a heartbreaking, frustrating penultimate episode with some of the best acting the series has seen.

In this episode of Breaking Goodman we are discussing season 6 episode 11 titled “Breaking Bad.” Whether you wanted it or not, we saw the return of Walter Hartwell White and Jesse Pinkman. We revisit the episode titled “Better Call Saul” in the episode titled “Breaking Bad” where they are filling in some “cut” scenes and connecting more dots. It can surely be argued that much of this did not need to be seen and was fine left inferred, but we got it anyway. And thought some was heavy handed and many argue strictly fan service – it was enjoyable to watch. Meanwhile in the Gene timeline he gets updated on what’s going on in ABQ from Francesca, tries to connect with Kim (and maybe does?), and gets back into the game with Jeffy and Buddy where he is now Frankenstein’s monster made up of the worst parts Jimmy, Saul, and Gene. And hey – we’ll take all the Carol Burnett we can get.

In this episode of Breaking Goodman we are discussing season 6 episode 10 titled “Nippy.” After getting teased with just bits of the Gene timeline for the better part of 6 seasons, we finally get our first full story with the 3rd iteration of Jimmy McGill. We see that old habits die hard as Gene taps into his past Slippin Jimmy and Saul Goodman ways as a means to get Jeffy the Cab Driver off his back. The episode centers around a department store heist and involves lots and lots of cinnamon buns, a training course, and the legendary Carol Burnett.

I briefly mention this comedy sketch from the Feeko Brothers on the podcast and would be remiss if I didn’t include a link so others can enjoy it.
