An Aussie mum has been sacked as a breastfeeding counsellor because she used the word ‘mother’ rather than the gender-neutral term ‘parent’.
Her crime was using the term ‘mother’, which is being categorised as “hate speech” by the Australian Breastfeeding Association, of which Jasmine Sussex was a member for almost two decades and counsellor until last year.
She told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings one group of counsellors had complained about another group of counsellors for overusing the term 'mothers' in relation to breastfeeding, while she was singled out for saying "only mothers breastfeed” and accused of hate speech and bullying.
