Continuing our series on Jesus, the Light of the World, Tim shares about seeing the light and following the light. We learn from Genesis 1, that even in chaos and darkness, the Spirit of God is hovering. In the beginning was the Word (logos) and when God spoke, there was light! If we allow God to shine on us, we'll have the power to grasp how much he loves us. Like the Wise Men in the Christmas story, we should follow the light to Jesus and worship Him.

To launch our Light of the World Christmas series, Steff Hodgson shares a message about the Christmas Upgrade. The very first Christmas introduced a huge shift that took the natural and ordinary life and made it supernatural and extraordinary! John 1 tells us that God’s DNA is in us as children of God. These verses also tell us that we are anointed: a person who has been made holy and chosen, set apart. A message from Senior Pastor Paul Jukes on Baptism Sunday. In this message, Paul links Baptism to the wedding at Cana in John 2 and makes the point that what we fill our lives, thoughts and minds with, really matters. The wedding at Cana highlights three things that we should fill our minds with. Firstly, God loves you and paid a high price for you. The second is that God is with you and that the Bridegroom is here! Finally, God likes you. It is the father who chooses the bride for the groom and it is your Father in heaven who has chosen you!

In this message on Ephesians 4 and 5, Ben unpacks how to live as a Child of Light. If we are adopted into the family of God, we have received a new identity, a new inheritance, a new privilege, and a new status; therefore, we should live differently! We should throw off our old sinful nature and put on our new nature, created to be like God. For example, if you are a thief, you should quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. As Children of Light, we should ensure that our light isn't too blinding and that we are not judgemental of those who walk in darkness. We should always be humble, gentle and patient, speaking the truth in love.

In this message, Ps Sara Jukes shares about a time in which Jesus invited the disciples to come and see (John 1:35-39) which is a phrase that appears five times in the Gospel of John. Jesus wants to invite us into a deeper level of intimacy with Him, even inviting us to touch his scars to receive faith and healing (John 20:26-29.) In John 11, Mary invites Jesus to come and see her on the worst of days, following the death of her brother Lazarus. If we invite Jesus into all of our fullness, He will reveal Himself in all of His fullness. Finally in John 1:46, we read of Phillip who invited Nathanael to come and meet Jesus and Mary who told her whole village to, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did" (John 4:29.) May this message inspire you to go and tell other people to come and see!

It can be very easy for our light to grow dim and for the fire in our heart to grow cold; therefore, Senior Pastor Paul Jukes shares a message titled, 'Carrying the Fire.' Using three appeals or exhortations mentioned by the writer in Hebrews chapter 10, verses 19 to 25, Paul encourages us to keep the fire burning. The first exhortation is to let us draw near to God - the fire-starter - with a sincere heart, in full assurance and with commitment and loyalty much like that which He shows to us. Secondly, let us hold unswervingly to the teaching of Jesus which does not change and also to the hope that we have in Him. Finally, let us encourage one another to help keep other people's fire burning, much like we would wish for others to keep ours burning too!

No one would light a lamp and then hide it, put it under a basket or under a bed. A version of this parable appears in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and also in Luke; however, in different places and possibly for different purposes. Using all 3 versions, Ben shares a message titled, 'How to Shine.' In order to shine well, we should show our good deeds with good intention (Matthew 5:14-16), listen with good ears to gain good understanding (Mark 4:21-25), and open our good eyes to share the good news (Luke 11:33-36).

Speaking from Matthew 5, verses 13 to 16, Paul unpacks the three metaphors mentioned - a city on a hill, the salt of the earth and the light of the world - which we need to choose to be as individuals and as the church. Like a city on a hill, we are always on display to those in our world, and we cannot be hidden; therefore, we need to be careful how we live our lives because people are watching! Salt is designed to give flavour, to preserve and to bring healing; therefore, we need to ensure that we don't get contaminated with material things, compromising our walk and losing the flavour in our lives. Finally, we are to be the light of the world, reflecting Jesus, and pointing people to Him.
