KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Two unrelated domestic incidents were reported Saturday afternoon close to the same time.

The first was on Aponaug Rd. Police were called about a man and a woman fighting with the manreported to be beating the woman. That was just before 3 p.m.

It was reported shortly after that a neighbor tried to intervene and was in a fight with the man.

One person was taken into custody.

About 3:20 p.m. Attala County deputies were dispatched to a possible fight between a man and a woman the old Carack schoolhouse on Hwy. 35 in the northern part of the county. The woman who called said she believed the man had a gun.

The people involved in the fight were reported to have left and headed toward Kosciusko.

Shortly after deputies arrived they called for an ambulance.

PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–A sixth grader was found with a pistol in his backpack Friday morning at Neshoba Central Middle School, according to the district superintendent, Josh Perkins.

It was a tip that led school resource officers to search the student’s backpack, where they found a .22 caliber pistol.

Perkins, in a statement, said the student and firearm were both taken from campus and the matter was turned over to law enforcement.

It was not believed that the student intended to hurt anyone on campus. Perkins did not believe there was any threat to students or teachers.

KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A man who claimed his wife attacked him with a knife called for Attala deputies once his truck was stopped at the McAdams Quick Stop Friday night.

That call was just before 10 p.m. But, the fight started earlier at Peach Tree and Adams streets in Kosciusko.

Once the two reached McAdams, the altercation escalated, according to the man who called 911, and the woman came through the back glass of the truck and attacked the man.

The man said he took the knife away and the woman went back out of the back glass.

The man left the McAdams Quick Stop in his RAM pickup, headed toward Durant, according to someone else who witnessed the fight at McAdams Quick Stop.

Once the truck left deputies were unable to find it.

KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A one-car wreck was reported Friday night on Hwy 35 north, near Carmack School.

Attala County deputies and an ambulance were dispatched about 8:30 p.m.

No one was reported hurt, but the ambulance was dispatched because an airbag deployed. The car involved was a Toyota Prius.

The Highway Patrol was called and told the wreck was caused by a deer. No one was taken to the hospital.
