Hey fellow Brené Brown fans. I have some sad news for now. This podcast is going to be indefinitely taken down. I originally started this because I love Brené's work and I wanted people with whom I was sharing it with to be able to consume the content in audio form.
I was amazed to see the listenership explode very fast and so late last week, I thought it would be the right thing to do to reach out to Brené's team to let them know that I had created this and wished to take any direction they requested. They replied to me today and were very cordial, appreciative and polite and they respectfully asked that I remove the podcast because the rights to the content were owned by the original publishers (TED, Oprah, Chase Jarvis etc). This makes sense and is 100% fair and understandable.
Out of respect to Brené and her work as well as those who are the rightful owners of this content, I am removing this podcast.
I, like you, really hope that Brené starts a podcast as her content has been some of the most helpful and practically beneficial I have ever been exposed to.
I would love to hear from you if you're a fellow fan of Brené's and I can be reached at the following places:
I'm glad you've found this podcast beneficial and in the meantime, I wish you nothing but the best!

Brené Brown, Ph.D., LMSW is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past ten years studying vulnerability, courage, authenticity, and shame. Brené spent the first five years of her decade-long study focusing on shame and empathy, and is now using that work to explore a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness. She poses the questions:
How do we learn to embrace our vulnerabilities and imperfections so that we can engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to recognize that we are enough -- that we are worthy of love, belonging, and joy?
Brené is a nationally renown speaker and has won numerous teaching awards, including the College's Outstanding Faculty Award. Her work has been featured on PBS, NPR, CNN, and was the topic of two 2010 TEDx talks (Houston and Kansas City).
Brené is the author of The Gifts of Imperfection: Letting Go of Who We Think We Should Be and Embracing Who We Are (Hazelden, 2010) and I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn't): Telling the Truth About Perfectionism, Inadequacy, and Power (Penguin/Gotham, 2007). Wholehearted: Spiritual Adventures in Falling Apart, Growing Up, and Finding Joy was released in 2011. She is also the author of Connections, a psychoeducational shame resilience curriculum that is being facilitated across the nation by mental health and addiction professionals.
Brené's current research focuses on authentic leadership and wholeheartedness in families, schools, and organizations.
Brené Brown, SXSWedu 2017 Keynote, Daring Classrooms
We need to understand how scarcity affects the way we lead and teach, we have to engage with vulnerability and we need to learn how to recognize and combat shame. What would it mean for our schools and classrooms if we showed up for tough, honest conversations about what it takes to bring our best, most authentic selves to work? These conversations may sound risky and vulnerable, but risk and vulnerability are essential to courageous schools. A daring classroom is a place where both teachers and students commit to choosing courage over comfort, choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy and practicing values rather than professing them.

There is nothing more frightening than the moment we expose our ideas to the world. Author and vulnerability researcher Brené Brown shows us how to deal with the critics and our own self-doubt by refusing to "armor up" and shut ourselves off. "Not caring what people think," she says, "is its own kind of hustle."
Instead we must "reserve a seat" for the critics and our own self-doubt. "Tell them, I see you, I hear you, but I'm going to do this anyway."
