In the book of numbers we see God blessing His people even when they don't see it and when they wonder too far He seems to always be there to get their attention and being them back to Him.

3. Where in your life have you grumbled and yet God was blessing but you were just too unaware to see it?
4. Sometimes we romanticize our Egypt's of the past.. what will help us not dwell on them?

Summary: All of God's laws rest on the two most important laws to live by - Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and Love your neighbor as yourself.

Synopsis:

The book of Exodus explains how God’s people were able to exit a land of captivity, but many of them complained and wanted to go back. As believers in Jesus we are also faced with the same temptation. Exodus shows us what it looks like to leave the old life behind and embrace God’s presence. You can’t have both.

What is something you had to walk away from? Why?

Why did Israel complain so quickly after being delivered from Egypt? Why did some of them want to go back?

Have you ever wanted to go back to old habits that were not good for you? Why?

What helps you stay on the right path as a Christian?

Is there anything specific God wants you to walk away from so that you can better enjoy His presence in your life? Pray about this. (Answers may include, habits, things, time, people, thoughts, etc.)

The book of Genesis Lay's out a battle between good and evil that continues up to today.

Read Jeremiah 23:25-36. How does this same thing happen today?

Read Matthew 28:18-20. Our mission is to make Disciples ie. bring people closer to Jesus. What has been one way you have done this in 2024? What is one missed opportunity you had to do this in 2024?

In order to fulfill our mission we need to Look Up to God’s Words, Look Out and see the lost, Look Down and take our next step in serving God, and Look In to see if we are growing together into mature faith. Which of these is the easiest for you? Which is more difficult?

Summary: Jesus as the Light of the World illuminates our way through this life and our way to God. He provides the answers to life's most fundamental questions: Why are we here? What's the purpose of living? How should we live? And, Where are we going?

Questions:

1. Why does John present Jesus to us as "the Word" (Logos)?

2. How does Jesus bring light to every person?

3. What proof do we have that Jesus is the reliable Light that he claims to be?

4. How do you know that you are in the light?

Our world has no idea what faith is. Faith is so much more than belief in invisible things. Mary, the mother of Jesus, shows us exactly what faith is and how to achieve it today. Do you think you have faith? Look at Mary to see.

Sermon Questions: Luke 1-2

1. Did you believe in things like Santa or the Easter bunny? If so, when did you stop? Why?

2. How is faith in God different from belief in unseen things like Santa? See Hebrew 11:1.

3. Hebrews 11:1 talks about “hope” and “seeing”. How are these often misunderstood today?

(Answer: Hope in the Bible is not wishful thinking. It is knowing that something will happen in the future. It just hasn’t arrived yet. “Seeing” here is also referring not to invisible things, but to something coming in the future.)

4. Look at Mary’s song in Luke 1:45-55. How does this show the importance of humility?

5. True humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. How can you do this? What is one step you can take this week?

6. Read Luke 1:38. Pray that God will give you this humble attitude.

Summary - Both Marys and Martha loved Jesus and wanted to please Him. However Martha needed to make some changes to serve Jesus better. We can benefit from making the same kind of changes in our relationship with Jesus too.

1. Do you relate more to Mary or Martha in the story of Luke 10?

2. What was it that seems to have bothered Martha the most?

3. What are the kind of things that bother you the most when you are trying to do your best for God?

4. What does it mean to sit at Jesus feet?

5. There is a place for both Marys and Marthas - but there are changes the Martha types need to make. What are those changes?

Synopsis:

While young Mary was pregnant with Jesus, she had a much older cousin named Elizabeth who was also pregnant with a baby named John. During these pregnancies we see God working...Not through conventional means but through His Holy Spirit who can do the impossible through improbable circumstances.

1. What do you find fascinating of Elizabeth's life?

2. How does Elizabeth show humility in Luke ch 1?

3. God loves to show off in what the world calls weakness. Where in your life or someone else's life has this been true?

It’s true. The LORD works in mysterious ways. In this sermon we see how God worked through Deborah and other unsuspecting women to bring about a surprise victory for His people. In Deborah, God has given us a powerful lesson. It’s a lesson that actually involves honey bees.

1. We are individually responsible to serve together in a community relationship? Do you ever find this difficult? How do some misunderstand this statement?

2. When it comes to serving Jesus with others, what is it that holds you back?

3. God often uses weak/unsuspecting people to do great things in His Kingdom. Have you ever seen this or experienced it yourself?

4. Why does humility matter more to God than your qualifications? (see James 4:6)

5. How can you be more humble in your service to Jesus? (remember, true humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less)
