We are excited to present another special episode of "Brewed For Change." This week, Sandiip Bhammer, Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Green Frontier Capital, had the honor of hosting Mr. Jayant Sinha, an esteemed politician, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Finance in the Indian Parliament, MP from Hazaribagh, and former Minister of State for Finance and Civil Aviation in the government of India. Mr. Sinha, the first person to present the Net Zero bill in Parliament, is a vocal advocate for climate initiatives, particularly concerning India's pursuit of global Net Zero targets. During their conversation, Mr. Sinha shared four major strategies that India is employing to achieve net zero by 2070. These strategies encompass transitioning the energy grid to renewables, electrifying the transportation system, utilizing biofuels and green hydrogen, engaging in carbon credits, and carbon taxes, and participating in the global market for carbon credits. Mr. Sinha emphasizes that green technologies are becoming competitive in terms of both price and performance and will become vastly superior to "brown" technologies over time. This is where investment opportunities lie for firms like Green Frontier Capital. However, a shortage of capital persists, as few of the necessary financial mechanisms are currently in place. India aims to attract capital from the global north to the south.
