It was first produced Off-Broadway at the 85th Street Playhouse for 44 performances from May 21, 1957, before transferring to the Playhouse Theatre on Broadway for 62 performances from August 20, 1957. A London West End production played at the Adelphi Theatre, running for 16 performances from 20 May 1958.

Gertrude Niessen was an American torch singer, actress, comedian, and songwriter who achieved popular success in musicals and films in the 1930s and 1940s.

Niesen began singing as a career in the early 1930s, first appearing (credited as Gertrude Nissen) with Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra and Artie Shaw in a Vitaphone short film, Yacht Party (1932).

Her credits extend into but are not limited to the 1930s and 40s Broadway musicals, the Ziegfeld Follies.

She sang and co wrote many songs, she recorded songs for Decca Records throughout the 1940s, She also appeared on many radio shows and on TV in the early 1950s.

In 1943, Niesen married Chicago nightclub owner Al Greenfield. The couple divorced but remarried in 1954, remaining married until Niesen’s death in Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Hollywood, California in 1975, aged 63, after a long illness.

It may be sold cold, but it’s the hottest thing out there right now in the beverage industry. Cold-brew coffee has seen explosive growth. And nowhere is that more evident than at a place in Brooklyn Center.

The Birth of Bizzy Coffee

Inside a 7,000-square-foot warehouse along Freeway Boulevard in Brooklyn Center, Andrew Healy and Alex French have tapped into something that has taken off. They co-founded Bizzy Coffee, a cold-brew coffee that is part of the fastest growing segment in the beverage industry.

“The category keeps growing,” said Andrew Healy, co-founder of Bizzy Coffee.

The main difference between hot and cold-brew coffee is temperature and time.

“With cold brew, we’re taking ambient room temperature water and we’re soaking those coffee grounds in it for 18 hours,” said Healy.
