'Buster and Jobyna Escape From Room 101' is a 25 and 1/2 minute album - produced in the spare bedroom of a mobile home in Eugene, Oregon from August 2018 - 2019...utilizing a 1/4" tape deck, 2 condenser microphones, an analog mixer, and a couple of digital recording devices. 

When played from start to finish it is a complete folktale. 

When played singly - the individual tracks are short stories or poems illustrating the intense aberrations of our society.

While the history of the Jews in the current-day Spanish territory stretches back to Biblical times according to legendary Jewish tradition, the settlement of organised Jewish communities in the Iberian Peninsula possibly traces back to the times after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. The earliest archaeological evidence of Hebrew presence in Iberia consists of a 2nd-century gravestone found in Mérida. From the late-6th century onward, following the Visigothic monarchs' conversion from Arianism to the Nicene creed, conditions for Jews in Iberia considerably worsened. Commons During the 7th and 8th centuries Iberia (Spain and Portugal), was a divided kingdom ruled by the Catholic Visigoths, the region was home to a Jewish minority who suffered intolerable persecution under these Christian rulers.

In 558 Ferreol, Bishop of Uzes ordered the Jews of his diocese to convert to Catholicism, those that didn’t abandon their faith were expelled from the region

In 694 Catholic bishops issued a decree that the Jews were traitors and should have their wealth confiscated and face perpetual slavery.

In 654 King Recceswinth of Toledo forbade Jews from keeping the Sabbath, dietary laws, marriage laws and circumcising their young

In 633 the Fourth Council of Toledo even describes the Jews, who were allegedly proselytizing their beliefs, as “the Antichrist‟s ministers.”

In 633 the Fourth Council of Toledo declared that all Jews must be baptized.

In the spring of 711, a Muslim army invaded Iberia led by Tariq ibn Ziyad, serving the Arab governor Musa ibn Nusayr, at Guadalete they swiftly defeated Roderick (Luthariq) the Visigoth King and then marched northward to the Visigoth capital of Toledo. Both Latin and Arabic chroniclers record that the Jews of the city “opened the gates of Toledo” to Tariq, who conquered the city. With more cities to take Tariq left Toledo and entrusted its protection to a garrison of Jewish soldiers, whom had rose up against the Catholic Visigoths and opened the gates. When Tariq’s master, Musa ibn Nusayr, arrived in Iberia with a large Arab force he seized Seville and like Tariq before him, he entrusted the city to its Jewish inhabitants until his return.

Had the Jews of Iberia not been the victims of such continuous barbarity from their Christian neighbours it is unlikely they’d have turned on them, but with the Muslim invasion this oppressed people tasted a freedom they hadn’t for centuries. There is no greater example of Jewish and Muslim coexistence than al-Andalus, the Jews not only fought side by side with their Muslim cousins, but under the caliphates born out of the conquests the Jews lived as a free and protected people who were able reach the highest of positions in this new society. http://www.judaism-islam.com/jews-opene-the-gates-of-toledo/

Arbor Lakes businesses are teaming up for the inaugural Chalkfest this weekend in Maple Grove. The two-day street art festival offers entertainment, food and family fun. (Cancelled 2020 due to COVID)

“We’ve never done an event together,” said Nancy Whitelaw, executive director of the Arbor Lakes Business Association. "At the Fountains there will be four murals up by the weekend that the public can go and see".

Crystal resident and accomplished artist Shawn McCann was instrumental in coaxing a group of artists that he’s worked with at other festivals to come in for this inaugural event.

“We’ve got twenty one artists that are flying in from all over the world, from Italy, from Florida, California, Houston to be a part of this festival,” said McCann.

He’s painting one of the murals now on display at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes.

According to McCann, Saturday is going to be a progress day where they're going to see how these large street paintings get laid out and you're going to see how the artists, some of them start in one corner and work towards the end. Then Sunday, the pieces get finished.”

Anat Ronen from Houston Texas was working on a mural of Chief Little Crow.

“I'm going to do a 3–D piece which means that it's not actually 3–D but it's an illusion. So I'm going to paint it on the floor and from a very specific point of view it will look as if it's 3–D,” said Ronen.

Maple Grove's Main Street is designated the Artist Zone and The Shoppes are the Family Fun Zone with children’s entertainment, face painting, caricature artists, and more.

If you want to see Chalkfest, it will be open through Sunday evening. All of the artist's creations will be washed away come Monday.
