Help to put the ‘human’ back into our humanitarian response to our Ukrainian friends’ temporary accommodation needs. As you know, the Ukraine is still at war with Russia and amid the coldest of winters with average temperatures of -20° and heating and lighting infrastructures being shelled constantly, people are still having to flee the Ukraine and find refuge here in Ireland. Unfortunately, since our government has reduced the time to find accommodation to 30 days, a lot of these frightened refugees are being forced to return to the war they are trying to get away from. Here Adrianne speaks with Brian Killoran of the Immigrant Council of Ireland’s Ukraine Civil Society Forum (UCSF) about this dire situation and how they have called on the government to reverse their decision and increase the time in which refugees can look to find accommodation here in Ireland.
