We were created to be close to God but sin disrupts that relationship and the world distracts us from it. The tragic result is that we rarely desire God's presence in our lives. We need help to recover a hunger for God's presence, which will satisfy every longing of our heart.

The Holy Spirit is God's gift that is so much better than we deserve. How could sinful people be given the incomparable gift of the presence of a perfect God? When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the price of sin so those who trust in Him could be forgiven and clean. Once we are cleaned up by Jesus, we are filled up by the Spirit to enjoy the fullness of God's presence everywhere and all the time.

Most people have heard the stories about Jesus. Many believe in God. But the Holy Spirit is often overlooked and misunderstood. Yet, Jesus thought the Holy Spirit so important to His disciples that He said, "It is for your good that I go away so the Holy Spirit can come!" (John 16:7) Forgiveness is good news about yesterday and heaven is good news for tomorrow. This series will help you understand the Holy Spirit as good news for today!

Scripture: John 14:11-14, 26-27

When life goes well for us, there is temptation to believe that we are self-reliant and independent. This mindset stands in direct opposition to the Gospel, which requires that we recognize our weakness and dependence on Jesus. The final church letter in Revelation warns Christians of the danger of pride and urges humble repentance to return to Jesus.

Everybody wants to fit in and be accepted. However, one of the threats to faithful in Jesus is the allure of fitting in with the world around us. Disciples are intended to stand out and be distinct rather than living like everyone else. One of the church letters in Revelation calls disciples away from comfortable living and into wholehearted devotion to Jesus.

A person cannot follow Jesus without letting Him shape the way they think and live. However, there are forces in our world that compete with Jesus for that influence. Only Jesus deserves that influence and can be trusted with it. Letters to two of the churches in Revelation challenge disciples to discern and resist worldly influences.

Revelation 21 provides a view of the eternal kingdom that God will establish for those who belong to Jesus. It is the existence that our hearts long for while we live in this broken world--a place of peace, harmony, beauty, and joy where sin and death have no power anymore.

People can get caught up in speculating about the significance of world events and predicting what will happen in the end. There is only one event that disciples should concern themselves with: the return of Jesus. This is the nexus event that brings an end to evil and establishes God's eternal kingdom for people who belong to Jesus. This is the event we long and hope for.

The first chapter of the Gospel of John gives a symbolic description on the birth of Jesus to help us understand what it means for us today. In a world that is distanced from God and darkened from sin, Jesus came to bring the light that each of us need. However you experience the darkness in your life, Jesus is the light that can overcome any darkness for anyone who believe in Him.
