Barnie Arnold has been teaching kindergarten for 15 years in Westfield and Carlisle Massachusetts. Early in her pre-service teacher training she worked with students in the urban, low-income setting of Cambridge. It was there that she saw how valuable and powerful the role public education played in these students’ and families’ lives.
