The Truth About Turf (And some great places to eat!)
With Special Guest, Mitch Litz, Director of Turf Operations for FC Cincinnati, MLS Soccer
ON BRIDGING THE GAP
Hosted by David Coleman
Some people were simply born to do what they do and that could not be more true than for today’s guest, Mitch Litz, a self-proclaimed stubborn, groundskeeping perfectionist. Genuinely humble and not one to boast about himself whatsoever, Mitch shared the joys and challenges of maintaining the field and turf at one of the most honored stadiums in professional soccer (TQL Stadium), one that experiences full and challenging summer, fall and winter weather, and a venue that holds major events of many kinds including large, top name concerts for over 26,000 patrons. When we are blessed to attend a professional sporting event or concert, as an audience, we may be unintentionally oblivious to all the work it took for the grounds crew to have the field in perfect, pristine condition. Mitch shared some insightful information (even for homeowners with a lawn), tricks of the trade and then threw in his real expertise on some amazing places to eat, enjoy a drink and each other. Mitch was a super guest whom I hope to have back on the show in the future.
