Anyone who watches court cases on TV can tell you that the most important factor in acquittal or conviction is the quality of the evidence. There is plenty of evidence to support the resurrection of Jesus, but as we wrap up our series today, pastor Lloyd will also consider another important question - why did Jesus die?

Today we'll bring you part one of pastor Lloyd's final message in his series through Mark. Jesus indeed rose from the grave, and the proof was there for anyone to see - anyone that is who sought the truth. As Lloyd will mention, the proof that Jesus Christ rose from the grave is overwhelming, and anyone who disagrees simply doesn't know what they're talking about!

If you were headed for a cliff in your car, and had plenty of time to hit the brakes and stop safely, you'd do it wouldn't you? Self preservation is a strong instinct for humans and all other creatures. Why then did Jesus Christ allow himself to be crucified in a horribly painful way, when He could easily have stopped it? Because He loves us so much!

Today, as our study through Mark nears it's completion, we'll look at the crucifixion of Jesus. The facts are familiar to all of us. The pain, torture, and humiliation Jesus suffered at the hands of his murderers should remind us all that He allowed it to happen for one reason: He loves us!

When Jesus was arrested and appeared before Pilate, who was really on trial? The answer may surprise you. Our study in Mark's gospel continues today in chapter fifteen. We're all familiar with the events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Today we'll consider the hearing before Pilate from a slightly different perspective. Who actually was on trial here?

We'll start in Mark fifteen today, as Jesus is appearing before Pilate after His arrest. The decision facing Pilate is quite similar to the decision every person must make. We know, as Pilate did, that Jesus Christ is who He says He is. Yet, will we choose the easy way out and reject Him?

Jesus has been arrested and now stands before the high priest. What irony we see here - Jesus, the only guiltless person in the room, stands accused of blasphemy.

There are so many memorable scenes described in God's word, and we'll look at one of them today. It's a familiar scene to most Christians - Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemene. Jesus went to the cross willingly as a sacrifice for our sins, but His souls was deeply troubled here in the garden - just hours before His painful death.
