Dorian smashed the Northern Bahamas on September 1, 2019. It was the strongest Hurricane on record in the Bahamas to date. A category 5 storm with winds recorded at 185 MPH, a storm surge [sea level rise] of over 9 meters [29 feet] and it came to a crawl for two days over Grand Bahama & Abaco.

It’s all fun & games until Hurricane Dorian shows up.

Sun drenched beaches, swaying palms, turquoise waters, warm Bahamian hospitality, unexpected leadership change at the University, category 5 hurricane, and the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. My second Fulbright takes us to The Bahamas but it wasn't the "usual" Fulbright nor a vacation by any stretch of the imagination!
