Wreck Your Perfection

Bringing Hip Hop to the Classroom with James Miles aka The Fresh Professor

Listen Later

On today’s episode, I had the honor of interviewing James Miles, also known as the Fresh Professor. I heard his Tedx Talk in Seattle and was blown away by how he’s helping students engage by bringing hip hop into the classroom. He’s the executive director of Arts Corps, whose mission is to revolutionize arts education by igniting the creative power of young people through culturally engaging learning experiences. Before moving to Seattle, James worked as an actor and educator in Brooklyn for almost two decades. He was the director of education at Urban Arts Partnership, a professor at NYU, and has brought his message many other places, including SXSW EDU. He is so inspiring and brings so much joy into the room, I was just amazed at how many great insights he has for humans, educators, and parents.
