  • The Deceitful Presentation of the Afghan War (08/23/2021) (Part 1 of 2)
The Deceitful Presentation of the Afghan War, Profiteering & the Cost to Afghani Majority Population Pt II of II
We continue our dialogue and interview with former Marine and former employee of the US State Department and Defense Department Matthew Hoh regarding the Afghanistan coverage and false image making our major media have been presenting to the US public.
Our news segment begins with an overview of the impact of the Covid pandemic on women throughout the world of $800B in lost income in 2020 as well as 6x increase in famine like conditions since the pandemic began resulting in 11 people dying every minute from hunger, outpacing Covid fatalities’ which are 7 per minute.
Meanwhile during the pandemic, we document how ‘global billionaires have seen their wealth some $5.5 trillion dollars during that same 16-month period an increase of more than the 15 years prior to the pandemic. This is the character of the world economy that a small elite class has benefitted from
The news segment also details how the Iraq economy was looted through Paul Bremer’s ‘100 orders’, all after the illegitimate invasion and the sanctions that preceded it all resulted in more than a million Iraqi deaths. Our guest was there and compares that form of Iraq pillaging with Afghanistan and the free trade agreements we have promoted or considered that promote greater world inequality while promoting profiteering.
Our guest presents the false duality of options between theocratic repressive government led by the Taliban and the kleptocratic regime made up of warlords and drug lords that our US intervention has created. And additionally highlights the complicity of the US and West in that corruption, as well as how the mainstream media place an essential role in generating the profound ignorance around issues we document.
Our well informed and studied guest, Matt Hoh provides an array of important insights and reminds us why if you want to get much closer to the truth you are well-advised to tune into Bringing Light Into Darkness every Monday night at 6-7pm CST on 91.7 FM in Austin Texas and through koop.org on the worldwide web, if you do not want to be played by our major media again and again.

  • The Afghan Papers & the Real Cost of the Afghan War (08/17/2021)(Part 2 of 2)
The Afghan Papers & the Real Cost of the Afghan War reveal a long Pattern of Govt & Media Lies & omissions: Myth of Women’s Rights Progress; Cost of War- US Casualties, Suicide Rates, Privatizing War & does War as an Economic Windfall explain its Real Motive?
Over $2.2T is the estimated cost of the longest war in US history, the Afghan War. These monies are largely unaccounted for, and we reveal where does it go. The Afghan Papers,12/9/19 Washington Post article At War with the Truth, by Craig Whitlock is reviewed and reveals a concerted effort to intentionally mislead the US public by high government and military officials just as had been done in Vietnam and was done concurrently in Iraq and Libya. A long list of sourced quotes is presented to verify this reality. It is hard to escape the reasonable conclusion that this deceit to promote US foreign policy interventions is the nature of rather than an aberration of our dominant informational sources. Our guest Matthew Hoh served in Iraq and in Afghanistan as a Marine as well as served in our US State Department joins us as we reveal how war makes money for a small elite as we also detail the costs in human suffering to our veterans put in harm’s way. Suicide rates, the privatizing of military operations line the pockets of some while millions have perished in the countries, we have intervened in.
Meanwhile, mainstream media push false narratives that we have worked so hard to promote women’s rights and now the Taliban will reverse all of that rather than the truth of history that you will learn if you tune in such as in US supported Afghan government-controlled areas 70-80% of Afghan Women are forcibly married, a majority of which are children. Some 80% of suicides are by women again in government-controlled areas. Yes, in the very rich neighborhoods less that 5% of Afghanistan women’s rights have improved, but it is only there. Yet those are the ones already being trotted out onto mainstream medias such as CNN and NPR to speak about and create this false image that there is this great reversal of women’s rights due to our military withdrawal.

  • Challenging Cuba Mainstream Narrative Part III (08/09/2021) (Part 2 of 2)
Media coverage abundantly shares issues of scarcity of medicines, shortage of food, blackouts, a rise in Covid cases and deaths and an arguably rigid government response to the economic problems. However, the illegal and immoral blockade and how it has shaped the economic reality is only mentioned without proper understanding of its role in the issues of greater concern. We try to bring balance to understanding the problem by continuing to expose little known facts regarding US micro and macroaggressions against Cuba and the quality of life in Cuba. We review the hundreds of millions of dollars poured into Cuban civil society by CIA surrogates USAID and NED beginning late last century to date, with the primary motivation of overthrowing the Cuban political economic model. A crime of gross sovereignty violation, by any country’s legal standards. All sold to the American public as ‘bringing democracy’ to Cuba (whether they like it or not. We review Max Blumenthal’s recent 7/25/21 article, Cuba’s Cultural Counter Revolution: US Government backed rappers, artists gain fame as catalyst for current unrest.
We include an overview history of terrorism including airplane dropping incendiary devices on sugar crops and mills, the introduction of sugar cane smut, blue mold, along with biological attacks on tobacco seedlings, bovine attacks, pig swine with the entire pig population destruction, dengue fever, and other aggressions such as the bombing of a civilian airliner in midflight killing more than 70 souls all through the end of the last century that resulted in more than 3500 Cuban deaths.
Yet, Cuba is put on the US State Department of terrorist nations without ever committing a terrorist offense on US land or taking a single American life.
Last week we had TJ Masters a millennial, who spent his formative years in Florida share comments and questions. This week Greg Ciotti who is old enough to remember as an adolescent the Cuban Missile crisis joins us with comments and questions for Pedro Gatos as we seek in pt. III of our series to Bringing Light into the Darkness to US -Cuba history and relations as well as unfolding current protests.

  • The Cuba Informational Blockade Pt II (08/02/2021) (Part 2 of 2)
Do not Believe everything you think…. especially when it comes to Cuba and the recent protests. KOOP’s own TJ Masters leads us through a maze of important but largely unaddressed issues in a dialogue and Q and A with host Pedro Gatos. We can promise it is likely you will learn much more about Cuba history and Cuba -US relations than you do presently.
We challenge the framing and the mainstream narrative of the unfolding protests in Cuba with data. We try to weave in several themes to help our audience get closer to the truth. One theme are older misconceptions that have been engineered by the same narrative heritage. Did Cuba refuse to provide adequate compensation for nationalized properties? Did Castro enrich himself at the cost to the Cubans he was serving?
The framing of Cuba coverage is challenged as overtly bias as it rarely provides comparative analysis with other Caribbean or Latin American nations and the absence of the recognition of what Cuba has provided the developing world through its medical and other internationalist forms of support. Life and death issues such as infant mortality and under age five mortality are ignored as is an honest interpretation of the cost to the Cuban economy of the embargo/blockade which is the environment Cuba has been in since 1960. We ask and answer questions not asked by our MSM such as how many lives would have been saved in the developing world if all countries had the same infant mortality rate as Cuba? How can you separate infant mortality rates, under age five mortality rates, literacy rates educational acumen from a critique of human rights?
The sitting president of the US Joe Biden in a 7/12/21 statement implies Cuba is botching their Covid response and the Cuban government is “enriching themselves”. Is this the case?
What if we were under unrelenting attack by a larger predatory nation for the past 60 years, would some of our ‘human rights’ be suspended or compromised? What country in 2006 was found to be the only country of the world that met the criteria for sustainable development? What was the criteria? We suggest examining the moral integrity of a nation and its government by its principled or unprincipled behavior. We have been taught that Cuba is unprincipled, but we challenge many of those narratives with information we have been blockaded from.

  • The 26 de Julio & the Blinding Cuba Informational Blockade (07/26/2021) (Part 2 of 2)
Special Guest Jane Franklin esteemed Cuban history expert and author shares declassified data in a succinct overview clearly indicating the deceitful and predatory nature of US foreign policy towards Cuba since shortly after the revolutionary victory of 1959. Jane’s revelations reveal the truth of how US Foreign Policy from the very beginning refused to respect Cuban sovereign choices regarding their political economic model and instead sought to destroy their economy and ability to subsist at any cost and how this policy was created independent of what Cuba did or did not do.
In addition to those revelations other empirical memos and notes from close Eisenhower advisors are shared revealing how US policy from the start was to ‘manufacture’ false pretexts and if necessary ‘fabricate’ false pretenses in order to deceive the American public, which to this day falsely believes that Cuba’s human rights record is worthy of sanctions and that the vast majority population of Cuba does not support their government.
We speak to the human rights question by presenting Nelson Mandela’s words in several interviews and speech excerpts within a year of two of his release from jail after his 27 years in prison. We provide you a historical overview of apartheid and empirical evidence of who supported and enabled the apartheid scourge by vetoing a dozen or so UN resolutions to sanction apartheid South Africa during its heyday. We juxtapose that behavior with Mandela’s revelations indicating it was Cuba that:
    1. was the decisive factor that overthrew apartheid South Africa and.
    2. it was Cuba’s selfless principle of internationalism that has been decisive for developing nations in Africa and throughout the world for alleviating massive amounts of human suffering.
This show reveals this history in detail, and we ask you to examine these diametrically opposed points of view and have the humility to question if the US government and mainstream media generated public perceptions about Cuba and human rights is closer to the truth than that of Nelson Mandela. Someone is lying.
Have we been acculturated to believe falsehood after falsehood when it comes to Cuba? Listen to Mandela’s words and decide who to believe, Nelson Mandela or the government and medias that enabled apartheid?

  • Systematic Racism and How it Maintains the Great Racial Wealth Divide (07/19/2021) (Part 2 of 2)
Special Guest Meredith Martin aka ‘Ahmahl’ from New Orleans shares his well-read historical and personal experiences as we reveal the main drivers and features of ‘systemic racism’ post slavery. Systemic Racism is a term that is often stated in our mainstream discourse especially since President Biden gained office. But the focus is overwhelmingly on the individual level discrimination rather than its cumulative overall social outcomes. Tonight, whether you are a racist or not is not our interest and focus. Rather the cumulative effect of systemic racism is the focus of our show tonight. The historical antecedents and the material manifestations of systemic racism that has resulted in the great racial wealth divide is explicated. Rather than educational attainment and greater need for personal responsibility we place the spotlight on and suggest the real primary root cause of the great racial wealth divide, is the pernicious character of the system itself which has exuded systemic racism, albeit in different forms since our country’s founding. We show how. We examine how embedded in laws and regulations throughout our history obstacles to the accumulation of wealth for African Americans has occurred. From slavery to the post Reconstruction Jim Crow era, through modern day forms of discrimination that have continued right up until present day, the result has been the great racial wealth divide, which well into the 21st century (2016), has resulted in a median wealth inequality that is a tenfold difference between black and white families.Jim Crow era black codes and convict leasing stunted the ability of African Americans toaccumulate wealth. The 1935 Social Security Act and the Selective Service Readjustment Act (GI Bill-1944) also had discriminating impacts on African Americans relative to whites in accumulating wealth as well and are detailed in tonight’s show. Finally, documented examples of the multiple forms and reach of systemic racism and their impact throughout housing, education, health and the criminal justice system and incarceration rates round out our presentationWe have been acculturated to believe because we have now had a black president that we are a post-racial nation. We have been acculturated by that same President and others towards blaming the victim for not taking greater personal responsibility for pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. Personal responsibility is an important factor. However, the dominant factor the system itself and its deeply prejudicial advantages it gives to a small elite, is largely ignored, or minimized. A system that denies boots to too many of the people it serves is arguably the real problem. You have to have “boots” before you can pull yourself up “by the bootstraps.”
