A familiar text that offers several reminders regarding the covenant faithfulness of God, the true nature and person of Christ, the praise that is to be given to God, and the peace that God has brought to mankind through Christ.

We look at Zechariah’s song proclaiming Christ as the promised Sovereign of the Davidic covenant, the promised Son of the Abrahamic covenant, and the promised Savior of the covenant of grace.

Jesus teaches us in this text that He is more than someone who can feed thousands or still waves, He is God.

While this text is often used to guilt Christians into doing more, what Jesus is actually teaching us is to look to Him and find rest as He is the true manna and our bread of life.

Because God alone is responsible for our salvation, He alone gets the glory forever.

Christ alone is the mediator who reconciles man to God.
