Brusinka Multicultural Centre is not just a space—it’s a lifeline for many who arrive in Brno searching for belonging, understanding, and connection. At its heart stands Viktoria Netikova, founder and head of the centre, a woman who never planned on becoming a leader, yet built one of Brno’s most important intercultural hubs from the ground up.

What began nearly nine years ago as a simple book club for children has since evolved into a thriving multicultural ecosystem supporting people from over 108 countries. Brusinka offers language courses, music and art workshops, therapy services, cultural events, summer camps, open mic sessions, and safe spaces for both locals and internationals to meet—not online, but face to face.

Viktoria’s journey is deeply personal. As a mother and a foreigner herself, she saw a gap in the city—especially for children growing up between cultures—and decided to act. Through persistence, collaboration, and an unwavering belief in empathy, Brusinka grew into a centre where kids find confidence, adults find community, and creativity becomes a shared language.

Martin Hřívna and Barbora Vymetalová in the late months of 2019 we on the verge of opening a new breathtaking location in the depths of Brno. Little did they know that beneath the crypts of that year hid the dreadful pandemic...

SPOT Brno is a bar that is consisting of a skateboarding bowl connected to a tattoo studio. Aside from the incredibly venue that it was, it brought together many varieties of subculture in Brno. Despite initially opening for skaters, now has taken popularity being a host to a variety of events and collectives such as the street dance community, graffiti artists and etc.

Spotstore is a skateshop that is separate from the bar but still under the name Spot. There is no other authentic skateshop than Spotstore, hosting numerous events that lead to the city providing more space and opportunities for skaters. Run by Martin as well along with Boris Jambrich. Thanks to Spotstore the local scene of skateboarding has begun to flourish, to even being mentioned by big skate magazines in Europe such as SOLO skate mag even having Vans Europe support Brno skate events.

SPOT Brno started before Spotstore, and had gone through a fair amount of struggles with Martin and Barbora sometimes wondering if they should even keep the place open...

Despite the hardships the both of them along with the rest of the SPOT team thrive to keep the place afloat and keep bringing in more varieties of people.

Bistro Bastardo, on first sight one might think profanity. However despite what the name suggests, the bistro is home to a variety of food that our city of Brno hold so dear to our hearts. Being a staple of Mexican cuisine for the last few years, the bistro has dominated the market being one of the top 5 places to eat at for the last 4 years running voted by Gourmet Brno.

Tomáš Kundera & David Reschowský ventured to bring the much needed Mexican cuisine to the city of Brno. At the start, having no official chef, they were in search for a fitting candidate. Who they came across was none other than chef Alejandro Roa Perez from Mexico, a match that would prove to be the best. Chef Ale, being the first to bring the flavours of Mexico to the city strived with both Tomas and David running with only one day off per week to bring us the food what we all so very much enjoy.

Upon a year of opening the establishment bloomed so much that they even considered branching out. This led to the opening of the Štefánikova branch which also included a varied menu. Now on this podcast manager Jirka Czakan and new head chef Jose Rodriguez talk about their struggles, and joys of playing bigger roles in the team.

Samy is now the owner of one of Brno's blooming new bakeries, Breadguy with an interesting twist to baking. Samy continues to master the art of sourdough and blow the minds of many. But the back story to his life is far more intricate than one could imagine.

Being in the midst of an economic recession in Czech Republic, having no work, no set of skills to rely on. Samy at the age of 25, ventured to his uncle in Dublin, Ireland in the hopes of a much needed life line. Having a 6 month old baby girl to take care of, he knew he had to do whatever it takes. So he got himself an interview in a michelin  star  restaurant posing as a knowledgeable kitchen porter, even though he had zero experience in the field of gastronomy.
