Welcome to Broadcast from the Past! In this episode, we dive into the world of Ancient Rome! Witness what first-century children's tv show might have looked and sounded like, followed by a deep historical dive into the facts.
About This Episode
The year is 44 A.D.
We go live to Ancient Rome to watch an educational children's tv show with our friendly neighborhood teacher, Miss Lucretia and her mathematical friend, The Countess. They are accompanied by three of her littlest friends from the Ancient World: Epicurus (an immigrant with a big appetite), Hypatia (a young teenager obsessed with math), and Nero (a spoiled kid who likes to play with fire).
Imagine tuning into a morning kid's show only to have to count in Roman numerals! This is Episode 6: Roman Road! We continue our series with a fully-acted mini-play, imagining a historical educational kids tv show and what that might include! A cooking class? A chemistry class ? Or how to clean your tunic? How about how to count to ten in Roman numerals? Sing along with the Countess, grab your toga and enjoy Roman Road!
Following the dramatic reenactment, we go behind the broadcast taking a look at the research process and historical sources we used to create this unique kids show.
