Pastor Ryan moves us into the third pillar of our discipleship journey: Uncommon Unity.

The Body of Christ is identifiable through a unique togetherness made possible through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself shows examples of such in His ministry, and indeed His redemptive ministry healed the great rupture that once existed between us and God, us and "them" and us with ourselves. Such is the unique expression of the Church, Christ's Bride! Passages from Ephesians and Luke 8:1-3 serves as our Scripture.

According to James 5:13-20, God's Word clearly indicates that the path to healing involves confession and forgiveness. The Body of Christ, Pastor Ryan explains, is instrumental in God's instructions and plans for you to receive full healing - our brothers and sisters in Christ help us heal! Humbleness in confession, and grace in forgiveness are clearly to be demonstrated! Pastor Ryan explains this vital passage to the disciple.

Pastor Ryan uses the passage from James 1:22-27 to discus the sober subject of inner healing. What does James mean by saying the Perfect Law brings true freedom? How do we know ourselves, in all our frailties and brokenness, as God knows us? And what are good practices for self-examination and, ultimately, deep healing?

Pastor Ryan introduces us to the next pillar in our discipleship series, "Healing Community". Broadway has always placed a premium on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of the Body of Christ, our community. Using James 1:2-4, we discuss healing through ordinary trials, healing through extraordinary suffering, healing through community, and a sober encouragement that as before, we long to be a community of healing, a church "for sinners only"!

Pastor Symps leads us, line by line, point by point, glorious truth after truth, through a detailed review of the Lord's Prayer, our Savior's landmark model on how to pray to our Father, and worship Him through our communion with Him.

We learn from the Scripture (Psalm 115:8) that you become what you worship. For this reason, Colossians 3 tells us to set our minds on things above, and to let Christ rule and dwell in you. Through Scripture, Pastor ryan explains, we learn more of Who God is, and know more of Who it is we worship.

We begin our new series in earnest, with Pastor Ryan addressing the first of the four characteristics of discipleship: Steadfast Worship. Focusing on Romans 11:33-12:3, we learn of true worship to God, and that our worship is dynamic - in worship we are learning to know ourselves and being known by God! And, we talk of why we come together Sunday mornings to worship.

Pastor Ryan introduces our body at BCC to our new discipleship curriculum that we will be following for the next several months (and our small groups are using as curriculum). Our series, "Following Jesus Together", is designed for the people of Broadway, but conducive to any one who wishes to become a Christ follower - join us if you are so lead!

We emphasize "steadfast worship", "healthy community", "uncommon unity", and "faithful witness".

Pastor Ryan's father, Rev. Bruce Cochran, guest preaches for us today, speaking on John 14:15-21. Pastor Cochran teaches us on Jesus' promise of His abiding love, and what blessed Love it is! Because of His abiding love, we not orphaned, we are encouraged, and we CAN endure!

Jesus assures us that together, we (God and us) can finish the race!

We take a break from Matthew to celebrate an important milestone in our church's history, the completion of the first significant stage in our building renovation and restoration. Celebrated is all the ministry opportunities that such hard work will be providing. Pastor Ryan leads us down a rememberance of our heritage, and shares our vision for the upcoming directions that God has for us.
