A few weeks ago we were asked the question, "How do you avoid actions that lead to heartache?" We realized that it's not one simple answer, but several things that tie in together. It takes actions such as listening to and obeying the Holy Spirit's convictions and God's Word, which goes into humility and surrendering your own desires and negotiations to God. Humility and surrender connect into being able to openly take correction when you have made past mistakes so you can learn from them and not repeat the same action over and over again. Like we always say, it can be easier said than done. But we would like to challenge you to pick one thing to work on this coming week. Whether it be being more sensitive to the Holy Spirit's convictions and guidance, spending more time in God's Word (like in Proverbs), practice humility and reflecting on Jesus dying on the cross every day, surrendering everything to God daily, or being more receptive to correction.  We love you all and are always here for you!

According to the Oxford Dictionary, wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. To some, the word wisdom can feel intimidating and as if they aren't equipped enough. We've been there and felt that. But the good news is, wisdom isn't dependent on us or our thoughts. It comes from God - from spending time in His Word, being with Him, and doing what He calls us to. It is all about applying the knowledge that He gives us and living our lives with the eternal perspective rather than a worldly perspective. By no means are we perfect in this, and are always looking for advice and growth. Just know we are in this together and are willing to support and uplift one another as we grow and share wisdom!

A key component to faith is trusting in God in every circumstance, even when we don't understand. One way that has helped us grow our faith is reminding ourselves of all of the ways that God has been faithful to us. It helps us to combat our doubts because it shifts our perspective. Instead of focusing on the unknown, we focus on the nature of God - who He is and how He acts. And a key attribute of God is his faithfulness to us. He never has let us down nor will He ever because that is who He is. 

Faith is trusting in something we can't explain or prove. Or as Hebrews 11 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." But often, when we let our feelings lead us, fear and doubt take control. In those moments, it may feel like your faith isn't strong enough or good enough. But Jesus says all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed. We want to remind you that you aren't alone in your doubt. When you feel like the doubt and fear is overwhelming your faith, God is waiting for you to come to him just as you are and wants to join you in your journey of growing your faith with Him.  

When we put our hope in our circumstances, rather than God, it is easy to have a yo-yo hope. Or a hope that easily comes and goes; and often leads to disappointment. However, God desires to dream with us. When we place our hope in God (who is constant, steadfast, and sure), we will never have to fear disappointment. God keeps his promises and has so much more for our lives. We only need to place our hope in him and who he says he is.

Hope: a feeling of expectation and trust

These days it is easy to let the fear of disappointment keep us from having hope and high expectations. But we are here to remind you that when you hope in the Lord, he will never let you down or disappoint you.
