Our podcast is called Bromancing The Stone. We review Romcoms. Prepare to listen. This week we discuss the 1987 classic The Princess Bride. Rene and Max discuss the tremendous passion in the looks that Westly and Buttercup exchange, the plotholes in a fantasy story and why they do matter, and also "What Happens After Ever After", "The Kiss", and "The Verdict." When it comes to the TENS and TENS of listeners' request of a new episode from Rene and Max, the response is always: As you wish.
Show me the podcast. SHOW ME THE PODCAST! Rene and Max review the 1996 Romcom and Pop Culture Phenomenon that was Jerry Maguire. The bros discuss how well known the lines in this movie are, how fear and fearlessness shape Jerry Maguire's decisions within the film, and how incredible the relationship between Rod and Marcy is in the film. Plus, "The Kiss", "What Happens After Ever After", "The Verdict", and even "The Quan" are all covered as well. So to the TENS and TENS of listeners, you COMPLETE the pod and we hope you enjoy the episode!
The ending of S***list month brings us to Monster-In-Law. This film brought Rene and Max to their knees with how bad it is and that partly explains the short length of today's pod. Give it a listen to hear the bros talk about their views on The Incredible Hulk and College Football. It's a doozy.
The "S***list Season" continues as the Bros watch the 2006 Romcom "Failure To Launch"! There is a quick discussion about where this movie is supposed to take place, Rene shares his unique viewing experience and why it was s absurd, and Max shares his feelings on the two main actors of the film and it may or may not be flattering words. Plus "The Kiss", "What Happens After Ever After", and "The Verdict" are all discussed and there may be a twist at the end when the verdict is decided... So give the episode a listen and we hope you enjoy!
Bromancing The Stone continues its "S***list" season by reviewing the 2005 Romcom Fever Pitch. The bros go over how annoying the Red Sox fan base became after the events of 2004, how Ben doesn't really ever apologize, but rather makes big gestures, and the usual kiss, what happens after ever after, and verdict. Join us for another fun episode!
Oh my goodness. This episode is one that Rene has been waiting for since the inception of the podcast. He and Max discuss the lesser known and truly terrible 2011 Romcom "Something Borrowed" this week. They go into detail about all the things they do not agree with, yet also admit that this is a competently made film. They discuss "The Kiss", give "The Verdict", and really get into "What Happens After Ever After" for this movie that was supposed to have a sequel, but has not seen one develop. This episode may be the best one yet, so give it a listen!
It's a new month, which means it's a new theme for the podcast! This month Rene and Max are going to reveal their S***list! These are 4 Romcoms that Rene and Max absolutely dislike for a variety of reasons. You're going to hear a lot more gripes about the quality of the film, but in a fun way... we think. The first entry on the list is The Ugly Truth, the 2009 film starring Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl, finishing off the Heigl doubleheader. Rene and Max go into everything that's bad about the movie and will still go over "The Kiss", "What Happens After Ever After", and "The Verdict". Let's let our gripes be known and take some movies down!
Rene and Max finish up Wedding Season and start a Katherine Heigl Doubleheader by watching 2008's 27 Dresses. The bros talk about how surprised they were by how much they enjoyed the film, how much the writing had to do with that, and how much Max hates the song "Benny And The Jets" for reasons other than the song itself. Plus "The Kiss", "What Happens After Ever After", and "The Verdict" are all here, so grab the sparkler on the correct end and make a tunnel to say goodbye to Wedding Season!
Rene and Max continue on with Wedding Season by reviewing the 2002 sleeper Romcom hit, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Rene waxes poetic about his hometown independent cinema, Max describes his affinity for Mimosas, and the two of them discuss their fondness for Chicago Summer Street Festivals, including Greek Fest. Plus, the usual bits that you get with each episode. So pop this one on and have a good time. If you don't like the episode, just put some Windex on it.
Rene and Max keep Wedding Season going by watching Four Weddings And A Funeral. They go over how much they like the premise of the movie, dislike the performance of the female protagonist, and everything in between. Hope you enjoy the episode!
