It’s the end of an era — and the beginning of a new one!

This week’s episode of Brooklyn Paper Radio was the first without former co-host Gersh Kuntzman, who had his “last show” for the last time last month, and after a two-week hiatus, Brooklyn Paper editor-in-chief Vince DiMiceli took the reigns solo thanking his “partner” for a job well done, and wishing him the best in his time of need.

“By now, we’ve all seen it on the news and read it in the papers, and we all know what happened the Gersh,” DiMiceli said. “But I want everyone to know I love my partner, and I love his family.”

At press time, it was unclear what happened to Gersh, but it was clear that, with the exception of some sound bytes played in the background by producer Johnny “Jimmy” Kunen, he was not on the show.

Instead, DiMiceli introduced senior Brooklyn Paper reporter Lauren Gill to talk about her earth-shattering story about a small town in Iowa that has many of the same street names as her beloved Brooklyn Heights.

DiMiceli and Gill were then joined by the mayor of Dunlap, Iowa, Jason Knickman, who took time away from his double-duties as the small city’s highest ranking elected official — and deputy sheriff — to discuss the strange coincidence regarding the streets.

And while he didn’t have any answers to the riddle as to why the streets had the same names, he did say he’s looking forward to some day visiting Brooklyn and walking the streets of his town — although he doesn’t intend to hop over the Brooklyn Bridge.

“I’m a pretty big guy,” Hizzoner said. “You don’t want to see me hopping over anything.

This week’s Brooklyn Paper Radio had big news — make that News.

Co-host Gersh Kuntzman, who left his job as a Daily News columnist only last week, revealed the inside scoop on Monday’s sale of the Daily News to Tronc — information he was able to obtain because access to his Daily News e-mail account wasn’t restricted until after the long holiday weekend.

The trove of details included an internal memo from former Publisher Eric Gertler, which Kuntzman skimmed through on the air; details from a Tuesday “town hall” meeting between Daily News employees and their new Tronc bosses; and confirmation that News editor-in-chief Arthur Browne would be relieved of his post in December.

Kuntzman, who starts Friday as Breaking News Editor at Newsweek after a five-year run at the News, described Browne’s yearlong tenure — during which he enlisted Kuntzman to write the straight-to-digital political novel “Coup!” — as a “roller coaster ride — but only the part of the roller coaster from the top of the first hill to the bottom of the first hill.”

Co-host Vince DiMiceli suggested that Kuntzman’s interest in the Daily News sale — and in Browne’s demise — was just “personal,” but Kuntzman denied it.

“All I wanted to do was help save the paper,” he said. “I wanted to innovate with videos, podcasts, real feature coverage, etc, so the advertising staff could sell ads, rather than just calling up the usual suspects.”

Then, as part of a broader discussion of the future of journalism, DiMiceli and Kuntzman — the Lennon and McCartney of Community Journalism — reached out to Ed Weintrob, former publisher of The Brooklyn Paper, who said Kuntzman perhaps should have stayed at the Daily News.

“You’re a great editor, Gersh,” he said. “But if you had stayed, you probably would have gotten a buyout from Tronc.”

But on a larger level, Weintrob, who has been in newspapers for all but 10 of his 60-plus years on planet Earth, said the sale to Tronc won’t matter because “the Daily News has been the walking dead for 20 years.”

Weintrob, who now edits an ethnic weekly in the so-called “Five Towns” on Long Island, said the future of journalism is providing high-quality content to a tightly targeted audience.

“We’re doing fine out here,” Weintrob said of his beloved Jewish Star. “So put on a yarmulke and come join me. Stop just chasing clicks and instead do coverage that your readers want.”

Kuntzman reminded Weintrob — and the world — that he generated more than 10 million pageviews in a year. DiMiceli disagreed that the numbers even matter.

“It’s not the number of clips, but the engagement numbers,” DiMiceli said.

Kuntzman was frustrated: “So what’s the answer, Weintrob?”

“The Daily News should do is what it should have done 20 years ago,” he said. “It’s the hometown paper of New York, so it needs exciting, substantial, local content.”

In a related part of the show, Kuntzman mentioned that Tronc bought the Daily News for just $1 — albeit assuming the paper’s massive debt. believed to be between more than $30 million.

“That reminds me of the plot of Vince and my forthcoming murder thriller, ‘Debt Service,’ ” Kuntzman said.

In the book, which is available to any reputable publisher for a $100,000 advance, 50 to 90-year-old men and women are getting killed all over town — and no one can solve the crime.

“The NYPD brings in a profiler, but he can’t figure it out because the victims are men and women, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, some have disabilities, some don’t — they cross all the lines,” Kuntzman said. “Eventually, an investigative reporter figures out that all the victims are Daily News pensioners, who are being killed off one by one so the paper can finally be sold because it no longer has any pension liabilities!”

“It’s genius,” DiMiceli said.

“Yeah, and the book isn’t bad either!” Kuntzman retorted.

Finally, Kuntzman announced that it was finally his last show because he’ll start at Newsweek on Friday.

“That’s all, folks!” he said.

“Yeah, yeah, see you next week,” DiMiceli deadpanned.

Nazis, you’re in for a beating.

That was the position staked out by Brooklyn Paper Radio co-host and noted pacifist Gersh Kuntzman as this week’s show dove head first into the controversy over the neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville.

Kuntzman and co-host Vince DiMiceli chatted with filmmakers Cary Murnion and Jon Milott, whose new film, “Bushwick,” eerily centers on a white supremacist takeover of the hipster neighborhood — and their conversation could not have been more timely.

“My favorite part of the movie is when the hipsters, the Hasids, and the Hispanics all start fighting the Nazis together,” Kuntzman said. “It’s a great moment because it shows that Nazis really do bring us all together.”

Murnion and Milott noted that the film, which opens on Aug. 25, is meant to be a cautionary, fictional story, but Kuntzman was having none of it, channeling Woody Allen’s old joke about how to deal with Nazis: “A satirical piece in the Times is one thing, but bricks and baseball bats really get right to the point of it.”

“Why should I feel bad if I want to beat up a Nazi at a rally?” said Kuntzman. “In your movie, they do it.”

“I would not throw the first punch,” Murnion said. “If the Nazis march in New York, I hope people here would say, ‘It’s not right,’ but not go down the road of violence.”

Kuntzman disputed the notion that you can reason with Nazis, pointing out that the white supremacists that President Trump called “very fine people” were chanting “Jews will not replace us” and “blood and soil” — and that was at the supposedly peaceful march. Kuntzman then quoted Franklin Delano Roosevelt — “We believe the Nazis and the fascists have asked for it and they’re going to get it” — and Winston Churchill — “We will fight on the beaches” — to make his point that Nazis need to be beaten whenever possible.

Murnion, Milott, and DiMiceli called for non-violence, but Kuntzman persisted.

“Look at all of you, appealing to the better angels of my nature,” Kuntzman said. “I’m not Abraham Lincoln. I’m Gersh Kuntzman, Nazi hater. By definition, the Nazis threw the first punch. That said, I’m also a card-carrying member of the ACLU, so I support getting them a permit to march. But all that means is I’m a duplicitous hypocrite when I throw that first punch when I see the Nazis here.”

Kuntzman’s call for violence was also not shared by former (and legendary) Brooklyn Paper reporter Andy Campbell, who called in to share what he saw when he covered the race war in Charlottesville for his current employer, The Huffington Post.

Campbell’s reporting made him number one in our hearts — and number two in our noses.

“I was hit by a bomb of raw feces,” he said, when asked about the challenges of covering the weekend events in the home of the University of Virginia.

Campbell sort of backed up President Trump’s assessment that there were wrongdoers on “both sides.”

But he blamed the cops.

“Charlottesville police did not respond quickly enough,” he said. “Everyone was there to battle. It was a terrifying example of hate. But the police did not keep these groups apart.”

Campbell said he saw better police work at a similar white supremacist rally in Portland, Ore. “In Portland, the groups were kept apart, but in Charlottesville, the police made the alt-right guys push through a group of counter-protestors. And for two hours, the cops just watched these two groups fight. They didn’t intervene.”

And then, unprovoked, Campbell admitted that he learned everything he needed under the tutelage of Kuntzman and, to a lesser degree, DiMiceli. “I learned from the best,” he said. “You guys taught me how to report on what people care about and what they don’t care about.”

Eventually, the conversation did get back to Murnion and Milott’s forthcoming film, which stars Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Brittany Snow (“Pitch Perfect”) as two people trying to survive a new civil war as Southern secessionists invade Bushwick.

The edgy, seat-of-your-pants film was shot over 15 days last year in Bushwick.

Kuntzman, of course, wanted to know how two young filmmakers from Clinton Hill could secure $3.2 million in financing and land those big-name stars.

The answer: deep-pocketed “financiers.”

“They loved the script,” Milott said.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, they fell in love with the script,” Kuntzman said. “That’s what you Hollywood types always say. But how’d you get the money? Because Vince and I always have lots of ideas — and, of course, I’m referring to my hit show, ‘Murder at the Food Coop,’ but we can never get the money.”

“Our producers get it from financiers,” Murnion said.

“Now there are two nouns I don’t know. Who are these producers? Who are these financiers? Vince and I can’t even raise $20 for lunch.”

It was high times on Brooklyn Paper Radio!

On the latest episode of America’s most beloved podcast about Brooklyn, Kelly Barbieri, the editor in chief of The Fresh Toast, a website that teaches everyone — including our square hosts — about the wonders of marijuana, talked to the Lennon and McCartney of Community Journalism about the wonders of weed and why they should — legally — use it.

Of course, that ruled out any chance hosts Gersh Kuntzman and Vince DiMiceli would, as promised, toke up on the show.

In fact, the use of the term “toke up” was prohibited by Barbieri, who quickly surmised the boys knew nothing about pot.

“Where did you guys get your education?” she wondered.

“ ‘Cheech and Chong’ movies,” DiMiceli said.

But after a brief quizzing of DiMiceli about his work, pharmaceutical, and sleeping habits, Barbieri quickly ascertained that the host needed to start eating biscuits laced with the active ingredients of weed.

“An edible an hour before bed would help,” she said. “If it was indica based, that would help.”

But that changed when minute producer “Johnny” played a tape of Vince snoring.

“Oh my god, is that a loop?” Barbieri said of the weird, long noise.

At that point, she recommended newfangled pillows and nose strips.

Also on the show, Lauren Gill talked about her update to the story of a Greenpoint bicyclist killed by a garbage-truck driver.
