We can use the power of music as a tool in our lives. When we listen to uplifting, meaningful and inspirational music, it can lift our spirits. It can give us a burst of energy, and it can help us to have the extra ounce of courage we need to make a breakthrough in some area of our lives. The music I have created is my vision for positively impacting the world. I write songs about being courageous, loving selflessly, developing self-awareness, and remaining optimistic. I have worked hard to create music that you will love.
If you’re a music lover like me, you have listened to thousands of songs in your lifetime. I still remember the first band I really got into when I was ten years old--Pearl Jam and the album was Ten. Wow, did I fall in love with that band. I listened to their album nonstop while I rode the bus to school, walked the family dogs after dinner, and sat in the back seat of the car on family trips. Pearl Jam was my band of the 90s!
Do you have a favorite band or artist? I know sometimes it can be hard to narrow it down to just one. So think of all your favorite bands and songs. Now consider the messages and the meanings behind those favorite songs. What are the stories? Do the messages align with your values? Do they empower you? Or do they disempower you?
Most of us are affected by the music and words we listen to most often; whether their impact is big or small, music and words possess power. However, many times we do not stop to think about what effect the songs we listen to might have on us. We drive down the road singing the hit breakup song on the radio at the top of our lungs and then wonder why we are dissatisfied with our mate. Or we listen to a song with offensive language and wonder why we slip with our words.
This podcast is comprised of the stories about what inspired the lyrics in the songs, and the journey the songs took to get to the version which you hear today. For the sake of organizing the book, I have placed the stories in the order of conception of the song. Some songs moved from conception to production in less than a year; however, many took years to find their final form.
