Greg is an inspiration and I'm proud to call hime my friend. He has had an incredible college tennis coaching career and he's still rolling.
Mark Keil grew up in Albuquerque, NM and was the New Mexico state high school singles champion in ‘85. He then played collegiately at the University of South Florida before embarking on a professional playing tennis career where he achieved an ATP high singles ranking of 167 in singles and 32 in doubles. He qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon in ’91 and ’93 in singles and the Australian Open in ’93 where he won a round. He defeated Pete Sampras in ’91 at the ATP Queens Club event when Sampras was #8 in the world He won five ATP World Tour doubles titles. He then coached in virtually every niche of tennis all over the world and is USPTA, PTR Certified. He also is a graduate of the USTA High Performance Coaching Program. He now calls Honolulu home.
Art and I discuss his book Black Tennis which is an archival history of the American Tennis Association. We get into the nitty gritty of tennis and the black and brown communities throughout the 20th century. This is a "must have" book for anyone who loves tennis and tennis history.
