Brown Butter Popcorn

It has been quite some time since you've heard from us, but we decided to come back in a big way. Diarra from Detroit is a show we liked 2 years ago, and we were excited for the new season to be released.

Season 2 may be even better than season 1, and the move to Paramount means that more eyes will land on the show. So we got you caught up.

Starring: Diarra Kilpatrick, Bryan Terrell Clark, Dominique Perry, Jon Chaffin, and Shannon Wallace

Created by: Diarra Kilpatrick

Quick Synopsis: Having solved one big mystery, Diarra takes on a new job that turns out to be much larger than she signed up for.

A few months ago, Mike and Toy recorded an episode after watching Brown Sugar. Toy loves Rom Coms and this is one of her favorites. She mentioned this review during the You, Me, and Tuscany review so it felt like the time to release it.

**Note** This should be the last episode we release that wasn't recorded on the studio mic. Unless we do special immediate reaction episodes.

Starring: Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, Yasiin Bey, Nicole Ari Parker

Additional Cast: Boris Kodjoe, Queen Latifah, Wendell Pierce

Directed by: Rick Famuyiwa

Written by: Michael Elliot and Rick Famuyiwa

Quick Synopsis: Friends since childhood, a magazine editor and a hip-hop record executive stumble into romantic territory.

Mike and Toy return with a big one. Discourse online about You, Me, and Tuscany made it clear that the industry may be impacted by the performance of the Black-led romantic comedy. Stakes or not, we planned to see the film. We were unable to see it during the weekend but good word of mouth encouraged us to get to it mid-week so we could put our two cents in.

Light, funny, entertaining. We had a lot of feelings about this one. Yes, there are spoilers.

Enjoy!

Starring: Halle Bailey, Rege-Jean Page

Additional Cast: Lorenzo de Moor, Marco Calvani, Isabella Ferrari, Paolo Sassanelli, Stefania Casini, Stella Pecollo, Aziza Scott

Directed by: Kat Coiro

Written by: Ryan Engle and Kristin Engle

Quick Synopsis: When a woman crashes at an empty Italian villa, posing as the owner's fiancée, she discovers an unexpected romance that could transform her life.

Mike and Toy are back with their first episode after the rebrand, and it is a big one. The pair reviewed the upcoming release from AMC's ALLBLK, "Long Time Listener," and interviewed director Danielle Nicolet (The Flash, Central Intelligence).

This was Nicolet's feature directorial debut, so we talked about her transition behind the camera- the good and the bad. At the end, we got into some less movie-related questions- like, what flavor she would be if she had to choose.

This was a spoiler-free review since the movie isn't out yet, but we'll be back with a deeper dive after the movie premieres on ALLBLK on April 2nd. It's hard to do a spoiler-free review of a murder mystery, but we promise we didn't give anything away.
