In this episode I review Cooper Raiff’s debut feature which should have screened at SXSW had it not been for the pandemic. This movie hit home hard for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This weekend I watched the Amazon-Blumhouse collaboration Black Box. Starring Mamoudou Athie and Phylicia Rashad, this is a thriller about a man who is recovering from a car accident and struggling with amnesia. Phylicia Rashad’s character is a doctor who tries to help him recover his memories. But there is something dark that’s coming out in these memories.

In this episode I reviewed the Radha Blank film The 40 Year Old Version. She wrote, directed, and starred in this film and won a best director award at Sundance. Cold open (4 minutes), Review (13 minutes), Bonus segment (10 minutes.)

For this podcast I asked the people what trades they want us to pursue in the offseason and to justify why those trades could actually happen. I also went team-by-team and decided who we might be able to pursue and gave my reasoning for making those trades for both teams. I watched the Netflix movie Vampires vs the Bronx with no expectations, thought it would be completely forgettable but received a pleasant surprise. I loved the characters and the story was interesting as well. Here is my review. (4 minute cold open, 14 minute review, 5 minute section with some spoilers).

In this episode I talk to Lakers fan Justin Styles aka @YungEstilos. 2 minute cold open sandwiched between two ads. We first talked about his earliest Lakers memories. Then we talked about the 2011 Lakers-Mavs series. We moved on to a tough conversation about Kobe, his loss, and his legacy. From there we moved to this current Lakers team, the “struggle years” and then finally his expectations for this series.

In this episode I had the pleasure of having my good friend Mike Kirkland join the podcast to discuss his Miami Heat fanhood. The two ads sandwich my 3 minute long cold open at the start. We had some audio issues early in the pod (a bit of a delay in his audio so I respond to things before he says them until 17:18) Mike’s audio cut out around the time I tell my 2006 story also but overall it’s still easy to follow. We discussed his Heat fanhood, earliest and best memories. The 2006 Finals, 2011 Finals and the Lebron era, how he feels about Lebron as a Heat fan. Then we get into the current team, Jimmy Butler’s decision, Herro hysteria, and Finals expectations.

As well as hitting the two big streaming movies Antebellum and The Devil all the time. I hit on a big new movie on HBO Max and talk about Jonathan Majors taking a big role in the MCU.
