Welcome to the Brown Girl in the Ring Podcast. Stories for change, for us by us. I'm your host Deborah Rodrigo.
So, what's Brown Girl in the Ring all about?
Is it a song from the 70's?
Well, Yes AND no
It's a 70's disco track, but that's not why we're here.
Brown Girl in the Ring is also children's rhyme hailing from the West Indies.
For the rhyme, kids form a circle, one get's tapped on the shoulder to go into the middle to share their talents, then they tap someone else to join them and rhyme continues.
And that is the premise of this podcast.
I'm tapping the shoulder of one amazing woman every week, to hear their story and how they're making their way in the world.
We talk about how they do it, what's hard, their catalysts for change, and also every day stuff too.
I've spoken to women from Melbourne, Sydney, Sri Lanka, Singapore and America. Creatives, entrepreneurs, engineers, and writers and each of them have a story of forging their own way and building a life for themselves.
