Domestic Violence number have skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only is Domestic Violence unacceptable, but it has a huge toll on the physical, mental, behavioral, and sexual health in women. Join Ameek as she chats with Sonya Mital, Community Engagement Lead at Narika, regarding the Fremont, California-based organization that aids Domestic Violence survivors. We discuss how Narika's different services promote women’s independence, economic empowerment and well-being by helping with advocacy, support and education. In addition, we talk about how to identify red flags for potential survivors and addressing them. We also touch base on the need for South Asian-specific resources for women in abusive situations.
