This week’s message:

Brunswick Jumping Beans. This weekend we'll be looking together at the book of Esther and JUMPING BEANS! I'd overdo it with mushrooms if I'm not careful so I figure we should move our mycelium into some different ideas.

Jumping Beans or rather, Mexican Jumping beans, were introduced to me as a child. In fact, it was a nickname for me. I was a child who couldn't sit still. Mexican jumping beans don't sit still either and they aren't really beans anyway. They are seeds and inside is a little surprise.

This week I'll leave the main thoughts a surprise as well but one of the topics we'll be discussing is comfort and its role in our spiritual journeys.

Spiritual Gifts and Where to Find Them.

Be honest, when was the last time you evaluated your giftedness in a spiritual sense? Do you know what your gift(s) is/are? Do you nurture it/them? How do we know when we are exercising our gifts in the way God intended?

I have these same questions too and honestly there are perhaps too many answers. This week I hope you'll join me in finding out what the Bible has to say about spiritual gifts.

Comfort or Christianity? This week we’ll be examining the role of comfort in the life of a Christian from the perspective of…Mushrooms? What does a healthy Christian biome look like and how does Christianity relate outside of its own bubble? Do the fruits of the spirit become fruiting bodies that are seen throughout our communities? Does our Outreach Sabbath mimic mycelium? If you don’t know what I’m talking about that’s ok! We’ll be perusing over a variety of topics/ideas and stories to help better understand our roles as Christians and where on the list of priorities our personal comfort should lie.

Infusion. It’s essential to who believers are. Jesus used the metaphor of “salt,” in a sense depicting the idea of infusion as how we impact the people around us. In this week’s teaching, I’ll be focusing on what it means to infuse our space with the goodness of God. It’s an idea that permeates Scripture. It must permeate our church culture, too. And it might be more radical than we anticipate.
