Brushing, Nail cut, and Hair cut

Listen Later

Brushing, nail cutting, and hair cutting are such activities that happen at regular intervals. It becomes a challenge if the kid is tactile hypersensitive.
For brushing, you may start with a simulator toothbrush, as shown in the video. You may begin by giving a simulation on the lips and gradually move to the inner cheeks. You will need to increase the time duration gradually. Once the kid becomes familiar with the simulator, you may move to the toothbrush. Make sure to use swallow-safe toothpaste.
For the nail cutting, as suggested by Dr. Amit, you may keep the clipper on the nail tip for 8-10 seconds for simulation, this must be repeated 3-4 times a day such that kids become comfortable. Later you may cut the nails as you observe the kid getting easygoing.
For the haircut, the handheld massager can be used to simulate and to give light vibrations on the head such that it emulates the hair clipper.
Note: The simulation is not a one-time activity, this must be repeated 3-4 times a day.
