Matthew Hurtt's day at a polling station in Arlington, Virginia, unexpectedly transformed into a scene mirroring the tense and divided state of American politics. A recorded confrontation with an irate voter, now viral, spotlights the fiery atmosphere surrounding our electoral process.

Hurtt, known for his robust role at the Leadership Institute and a seasoned poll worker, faced a voter's wrath head-on. The footage shows an intense encounter: an "I Voted" sticker-wearing individual, accusing Hurtt and his party of attempting to suppress and manipulate the vote. "You try to steal my vote next year, I’m going to f—ing remember you personally," he threatened, capturing Hurtt's image as a lasting reminder of their confrontation.

This incident, while isolated, resonates deeply with the current climate of American politics. It reflects a nation grappling with stark ideological divides, where even the act of voting can become a flashpoint of contention.

Matthew Hurtt isn't just another bystander in these political skirmishes. His resume speaks volumes about his commitment to conservative causes and effective political activism. As the Director of Professional Services at the Leadership Institute, Hurrt has been instrumental in shaping the future of conservative leadership, guiding and mentoring the next generation of activists.

His journey in the political arena is characterized by a string of notable roles. With Americans for Prosperity & AFP Foundation, Hurtt was at the forefront, mobilizing activists nationwide around policies fostering opportunity and prosperity. His presence at the Grassroots Leadership Academy as its public face put him at the heart of conservative strategy and action.

Matthew is involved in national Republican politics, serving as an at-large delegate to both the 2012 and 2016 Republican National Conventions. Since 2013, Hurtt has served as special assistant to Virginia's Republican National Committeeman, Morton Blackwell, at regular meetings of the Republican National Committee.  

Hurtt has been published in numerous outlets and has appeared on local, national, and international television and radio as a pro-liberty activist. He resides in Arlington, Virginia.

Darlene Lekowski is an author, speaker, advocate, but most importantly, a survivor.

Forced to hide the secret of her childhood trauma for more than fifty years, Darlene is now speaking out. Her message is one of resiliency and healing, and her intention is to use her voice to help others find theirs.

As a child, Darlene was sexually assaulted by her two eldest brothers.

The youngest of five children, Darlene grew up in a Midwestern town amongst the country club crowd where appearances mattered, especially to her mother. Convinced that her parents would cover it up, and terrified by her brothers’ threats, young Darlene told no one about the assaults, burying the secret in a box inside her mind, determined to keep her family and the good parts of her life intact.

But boxes leak.

Despite an extremely successful career, the weight and shame of this secret impacted every relationship in her life. After finally confiding in a close friend during college, Darlene began to seek help to deal with the ramifications of the trauma she had been through. She firmly believes this investment in her psychological healing helped save her life. 

In 2021, after the death of her mother, the secret exploded.

One of the brothers involved sued Darlene for defamation. Having her personal life and the details of her abuse so publicly put on display was devastating, but Darlene, knowing her truth, counter-sued. And won! 

Her story is featured in an upcoming memoir, scheduled for release in April 2026. 

The secret is now hers to own, and own it she has, channeling her energy into volunteering with organizations that provide education, support, and advocacy for victims of sibling sexual assault. 

It is with this work that she is reaching back to protect the little girl that no one came to save.

It is time to show her that heroes do exist.

His thriller in verse, Mr. Either/Or, was released by Etruscan Press in the fall of 2017. A recipient of an NEA Grant in translation, he has published translations with Penguin Classics and W. W. Norton. His latest book American Divine, the winner of the Richard Wilbur Award, came out in 2021. His other poetry collections are Manhattanite (Able Muse Press, 2017), winner of the 2016 Able Muse Book Award, and The Cosmic Purr (Able Muse Press, 2012). The Trump Administration thinks we have the greatest economy, but the numbers do not agree. If you see a contradiction, check your premises; one of them is wrong. We talk about the actual numbers, how inflation works, and ways the U.S. can increase the monetary supply without experiencing consumer price inflation. We also talk about AI, China's "green energy", and gold and silver. We also talk about the new incoming Fed Chair, Kevin Warsh, and what he is saying that is causing him to be labeled a "conspiracy theorist" by others. He has some good ideas, but will he be able to use those to positively influence the Fed's decisions? We'll see!
