Josh Strathman is a local guitarist, now living in Bloomfield, with deep roots in the Midwest. He draws his influence primarily from classic blues and country influenced rock legends, and has an affinity for the simplicity of garage and the rawness of a good fuzz pedal. He's a laid-back and talented guy who frequents northeast Missouri jam nights and uses his heart and soul to pick and slide his way through sessions as often as life allows.
Recorded 8/3/21
Nik Sorak is a multi-instrumentalist who was introduced to the local Ottumwa scene and the wonders of ROCK at an early age. In part 2 of his talks with us, we talk about what it was like being into WoW, meeting rock legends while touring with Corey Taylor, health issues, and much more!
Nik Sorak is a multi-instrumentalist who was introduced to the local Ottumwa scene and the wonders of ROCK at an early age. In this episode, he walks us through how rock n roll changed his life in sixth grade and he hasn't looked back. We also go over his years as a drummer (out of necessity), solo musician, and as a guitarist in various local and regional bands. This is episode 1 of 2, so be sure to look for the second part next week!
Adam has been playing guitar and singing in area bands, whether cover or original music, for almost two decades. He's a spirited and passionate musician that has a lot of good things to say about music, the creative process, and more!
Ottumwa City Councilman, Marc Roe, played guitar in several Ottumwa area metal bands from the mid/late 90's to the 2010's. While shredding with a couple of the area's heavier groups he aquired a few stories, which he shared with us. Just before covid, Marc started doing some solo acoustic shows, whcih he is hoping to get back into soon.
Adam Lunt is an area multi-instrumentalist who currently plays lead guitar with local cover band, Fast Henry. He's played drums and guitar in a few rock bands over the years and had some great stories to share with us. Adam helped us ring in our new season with a few firsts: first outdoor recording, first dream band maade of local musicians, and first wine brought to a recording session. If you're out and about and see Fast Henry's name on a bill, be sure to stop and check them out!
Nalani Proctor is a well-rounded professional musician hailing from Keokuk, Iowa. For the past decade, she has been involoved in many diverse projects in the area and toured extensively. She received a degree in vocal performance and has used that knowledge, along with a very musical upbringing, to open doors and explore various aspects of what it means to be a musician. She can play several instruments and does not allow herself to be boxed in by anyone's expectations. From folk to pop-punk, hard rock to electronica, Nalani has seemingly done it all and it doesn't look like she'll stop anytime soon.

Troy Morgan is a musician who grew up in Ottumwa. Heavily influenced by 90's grunge (specifically Weezer), Troy decided to pick up the bass and begin his musical journey. He started off in a local grunge band, Yellow 5, and hung out at shows in basements and fields during Ottumwa's DIY scene in the 90's. After college, Troy played around and found himself in area alt-country/americana/pop group, She Swings, She Sways and other area projects. Troy now lives in Missoula, Montana and plays upright bass in a bluegrass band, Milltown Damn.
He's a fun guy with some good stories and unique, insightful perspective on music and life in general.
Music in the show:
Danny Carman, now of Des Moines, once lived in Ottumwa and had a hand in bloodying up a couple of stages in the early 2000's as lead vocalist for A Well Dressed Man. The band went through a few member and name changes over the years and stopped playing live sometime in 2012. They reunited this past winter and started working on old and new material. Danny takes us through some stories of what got him on stage and tells a few stories from the road.
Once live shows are a thing again, they plan to have a reunion gig. In the meantime, check them out on bandcamp:
