An Australian and Samoan International representative player, he previously played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, with whom he won the 2004 NRL Premiership. Maitua has also represented the Cronulla Sharks and Parramatta Eels, before spending time in the English Super League between 2015 and 2018.
