Publisher's Summary:
Jocelyn McLaren, a former defense contractor, is now a new mother to twins! As she struggles to maintain what she imagines to be a normal family during the economic turmoil of the US housing collapse, she becomes involved in a political campaign and encounters troubling remnants of her life working for the military-industrial complex. These interactions haunt her, as well as the father of her children, and are ultimately interlinked with the most nefarious psychopaths on the planet. Divided into three books, Security Through Absurdity is the story of corporate shenanigans, an uneasy home life, and a quixotic presidential campaign. These situations propel Jocelyn through a believably bizarre journey and into dangerous psychological territory. In a matrix of life-threatening situations, she is forced to question the very fabric of her Gen-X American upbringing. Bubbles Will Pop is the second book in Jocelyn's journey.

The plot thickens
On page one, it's clear that "Bubbles Will Pop," the second volume in the "Security through Absurdity" series, will be quite different than "Little Yellow Stickies," the book that preceded it. Where LYS relied on the perspective of a sole protagonist, Jocelyn McLaren, in New England, BWP starts off with Ethan Lowe, Jocelyn's boyfriend, in Switzerland. Here we are introduced to a villain of the expensive suit and fine manners variety who, it is immediately clear, is blackmailing Ethan. Ethan worked for the same defense corporation as Jocelyn, but apparently his job duties were in the area of "black ops," of which Jocelyn is unaware. Ethan's slow motion mental crack-up is one thread in BWP; Jocelyn's new-found political interests are another. She becomes involved with a presidential campaign, for a candidate named, "Ray Pierce," which is clearly a fictionalized Ron Paul. Meanwhile, one of Jocelyn's ex-coworkers is discovering dirty secrets perpetrated by their former employer that lead to a web of apparent plots. On top of all that, a professional assassin has Jocelyn in her sights while Jocelyn is just trying to be a good mom and be involved with her democracy. Just as Jocelyn seems on the verge of putting some of the pieces of the puzzle together, the book ends with a cliffhanger. Have the third book in the Series, "The Big Show," at the ready!
Bubbles Will Pop is a most entertaining read, I ...
Bubbles Will Pop is a most entertaining read, I can't help but feel that this "fiction' story is really a "protect the innocent" documentary of the authors real life dramas, of which there are many. I actually think that the 'candidate' Ray Pierce, could actually be Congressman Dr. Ron Paul.
The lead character,Jocelyn's insertion into the political arena brings back fond memories of my own personal experiences as a grassroots political activist. Hats off and eagerly awaiting Book 3.
Suspense, recent American history, excitement, and funny moments too. This book has it ALL!
I read this book in four nights. I really enjoyed it. A lot of the characters from the first book are in the second, along with, of course, our main character Jocelyn.
