Jesus is a Jew. So when he says the temple will be destroyed, it is no small thing. Israel’s land and temple had been the center of God’s story to Jesus day. Why is he so calm about its destruction? Because he has something bigger and better. Wars and natural disasters will not destroy God’s new temple that God is making for Jew and Gentile to join together in fellowship. The time of the Gentiles will be a comic tragedy like Israel, but what we mean for evil, God uses for his good. He is the hero of his epic!

Jesus has little time for the fittest of our natural world, but he has all the time in the world for the down and outs like widows. Jesus has a moral revolution in mind, confounding the Nietzsches of the world and giving hope to the botched, as the world might call them, the down and outs.

Today is Sad U See. The Sadducees come on the scene like modern day funsuckers with their deconstructionist clever schemes to tear down God’s story. At the heart of Jesus is the resurrection, which is in our hearts too, we want to live for ever. Only Jesus takes the issue seriously - so we would do well to listen up, take heart, and get on board with Jesus Christ, Lord of Life and Death.

Jesus turns the table on religious leaders pumping sunshine up Jesus so they can stab him in the back. The scene leaves them and us asking whether we really know the difference between what is man made and what is God made.

Luke 20:9-19

Why does everyone rage at the Lord and His anointed? Jesus gives us the heavenly perspective of our world and what God is doing in it. Basically, we are bad tenants, squatters who somehow think we can pull one over on the Owner if we dismiss His servants and even His Son. But even the death of The Son won’t keep God from being patient and kind. Jesus reminds everyone that one day the nonsense will be stopped. God’s Rock will crush the nonsense one day.

Luke 19:45-20:8

Jesus enters the temple and turns the tables on everyone. Do you know God? Do you know the difference between what is from man and what is from God? What is your authority? God has made a story thru History so that everyone can be forgiven by Him, know Him, and pray to Him. Are we in sync with God? Jesus is. It’s time to follow him.

Luke 19:28-44

The King is here, but his weeping like a prophet over Jerusalem ahead. The audience either wants Jesus to make war or just go away and die. Jesus will make war, but his blood will be the only blood shed because He is here to make peace. To make peace His war will be against our evils so that the knowledge of the glory of God will fill the earth.

19:11-27

Jesus does his part to pump the brakes on any notion that he going to Jerusalem to slaughter the enemies of God. Instead, he will die and rise in three days after being beaten and spit upon. This is all part of God’s plan to give the Kingdom of God to Jesus, the Son of God. But don’t be fooled into thinking that he won’t be back with his Kingdom and all that means. Be faithful, and you will be ridiculously rewarded.

What must we do to inherit eternal life? The answer is “Who is good?”, according to Jesus (God).
