The first round of College Football Playoff Rankings is set to come out in just a few days, kicking off the official countdown to the first 12-team playoff in FBS history.
There are a lot of unanswered questions in the first season with the new format, but Tony Gerdeman of BuckeyeHuddle.com just got the answers to several of them this week on a call with CFP Executive Director Rich Clark. He joins host Tom Orr to discuss:
- Can the non-power conference champion be seeded higher than No. 12?
- What data is the committee going to use to rank the teams?
- Will the losing team from the conference championship games get extra credit for appearing? Or be punished for suffering an extra loss?
- Will the committee consider shuffling teams in the final rankings to avoid rematches?
- How will the committee determine which half of the bracket will feed into the Cotton Bowl semifinal, and which will head to the Orange Bowl?
