The Ohio State Buckeyes rolled into their regular season finale against arch-rival Michigan having scored at least 20 points in every game, and putting up 30 points or more nine times. 

But the Wolverines held OSU to just 10 points, including a scoreless second half, in a shocking 13-10 defeat for Ryan Day's program. So what went wrong?

For the second time in two days, the Ohio State Buckeyes have lost a special teams performer to the Transfer Portal. One day after linebacker Gabe Powers announced that he was transferring out after three seasons, wide receiver Jayden Ballard said Tuesday night that he would also enter the portal.

For the fourth straight year, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day ended the regular season with another crushing loss to Michigan, and without a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game. This was unquestionably the most shocking of the four, as an underwhelming Wolverine team traveled down to Columbus and clamped down what had been a high-flying Buckeye offense, holding them to just 10 points. 

A lot went wrong for OSU, including two interceptions, and a pair of missed field goals. But a lot of the questions after the game centered on Day and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly stubbornly trying to run the ball when it was not working, and leaving star freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith without a single target in the second half. 

After the game, Day was asked about all of that and more.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had all of their goals in front of them and just needed to beat three-touchdown underdog Michigan to reach the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time since 2020. 

But the Wolverines came into Ohio Stadium and pulled off a shocking upset, holding the Buckeyes scoreless in the second half in a 13-10 win.
