Archie Griffin, who won the 1974 and 1975 Heisman Trophies while playing tailback for Woody Hayes at Ohio State, was back at the Horseshoe on Friday for the unveiling of a brand new statue. 

It sits just outside the north rotunda of the stadium, and depicts Griffin stiff-arming a defender.

After all, what are the odds that teams like Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon aren't left standing after the quarterfinals of the newly expanded College Football Playoff? As it turns out, history suggests that a 12-team College Football Playoff field would be incredibly unpredictable. 

Ralph Russo of the Associated Press found that on average over the last 10 seasons, a 12-team CFP field would have consisted of:

• 4 of the top-5 teams in the preseason AP Poll
• 2 of the teams ranked from 6-10 in the preseason AP Poll
• 2 of the teams ranked from 11-20 in the preseason AP Poll
• 1 of the teams ranked from 21-25 in the preseason AP Poll
• 3 teams not ranked at all in the preseason AP Poll

So following that formula, what might the 2024 College Football Playoff field look like? It turns out, things could get pretty crazy.
