A mostly good basic overview
This is a mostly good basic overview, without too much technical jargon and a specific and intentional avoidance of frequently using sanskrit words and phrases in order to make it more easily understandable to western English-speakers. There are some resources included, which I have not checked out, though I was hoping for more and for those to be less generic. The last chapter is an excerpt from another one of the author's books and the whole book can probably be gone through in one sitting -- I did. However, while the book is good and I do view it favorably and appreciate it, I found that it is so simplified as to be somewhat oversimplified and also that the views in it are generally very western in nature. It does take a slant of Budddhism not being a religion, and instead being a life choice, which depending on your views many bother you, or not.
