Actual football will take place at Highmark Stadium this weekend.

The quality may not be great - it is a preseason Week 1 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts, after all - but football, nevertheless, will be played. The Buffalo faithful have been clamoring for the return of football season after an unprecedented offseason of blockbuster signings, national hype, and general excitement surrounding a team that was 13 seconds away from their second consecutive AFC Championship Game appearance last season.

Though many fans are more actively anticipating the commencement of real games, the preseason will be valuable for Buffalo as it attempts to settle the few position battles on its roster. The preseason will provide opportunity for players who haven’t necessarily stood out in training camp thus far, giving them the chance to prove their worth and demonstrate their skillset in a live-game setting. It will also give Bills fans their first glimpse at their offseason additions in action, as players like Von Miller, James Cook, and Kaiir Elam will likely see, at least some, snaps throughout the preseason, (Miller, of course, significantly fewer than Cook and Elam).
