Part One: NYS Senate Minority Leader Robert Ortt sits down with Dave to talk about ongoing problems with the state's rollout of a new fiscal intermediary for its CDPAP.

The problems with CDPAP, which stands for Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, started when the state transitioned from multiple fiscal intermediaries to a single agency charged with carrying out all of the accounting within CDPAP. The deadline for patients, assistants and caregivers to enroll has been pushed back each month since March. It was most recently pushed back to Aug. 1.

They’re teaming up to create Snapshot NY, a program launched in July 2025 to gather data used to inform decisions about how to best manage or conserve wildlife in the state. Dave is joined by Joelee Tooley, citizen science coordinator for the program.

U.S. Army Col Patrick Miller joins Dave for a conversation about his annual Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert. The 6th annual event will be held Sunday, July 27 at Good Times of Olean.

Col. Miller is one of 14 people hurt during the mass shooting on April 2, 2014, at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Tx. He was shot point-blank by the gunman and survived. Four people died, including the gunman.

Here he talks about how that event shaped his life since, and how it impacts his leadership and mental health and the importance and strength of teamwork. Col. Miller is the new commander of Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Ft. Polk in Louisiana.

Steve Tybor is the president and CEO of Eight Days of Hope, a faith-based volunteer organization that travels the county responding to natural disasters.

According to its website: “Eight Days of Hope exists to love and serve those in need in the aftermath of natural and human disasters. We invite you to join us today as we serve across the country!”

In addition to responding to natural disasters as they happen, EDOH also spends eight days a year in one neighborhood in Buffalo.

Here Steve and Dave walk through one of the neighborhoods in the Niagara District, which will host more than 2,000 volunteers from July 19-27.
