Caleb Drahosh \\ King David writes Psalm 13 while facing difficulty, trial, or suffering. Four times he asks God, “How long, O Lord?” seeking answers. He cries out to God in his desperation. Ultimately King David resolves to trust, rejoice, and sing. Because of God’s kindness shown to us in Jesus Christ, we can do the same. During Advent we praise God that Jesus Christ came to this earth to deal with sin and death and we fix our hope on the promise of His return.

Caleb Drahosh \\ As the Prologue draws to a close, John 1:18 brings things full circle reemphasizing God's sovereign self-expression seen clearly in the incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. There is no way to know God apart from Jesus; He has made God known to us. This verse serves as a clarion call to know God through His Word and resist the cultural forces that would seek to conform us to this world.

Caleb Drahosh \\ In these verses John tells us that through Jesus Christ––who is full of all grace and truth––we have received a position of favor with God. Jesus Christ is an infinite well of grace and truth and all Christians are called to draw from Him for all of eternity. The grace upon grace that we have received shatters our entitlement by highlighting our insufficiency to keep the law and be right with God apart from Jesus Christ.

John Baumgartner \\ In Psalm 2, God reveals the history of every nation and people, the secret motives behind all human actions, and the final end of every person who will ever live. Humanity since Adam has tried to overthrow God’s Kingdom and set up our own. But God is not threatened by our rebellion. He has set up His Kingdom with Christ as His King for all eternity. He could crush every rebellion immediately but instead has chosen to make Christ a refuge for all rebel sinners who abandon their rebellious ways and come to Him.

Caleb Drahosh \\ This passage describes what is referred to as the incarnation. Jesus came to earth and took on flesh in order that we could dwell with God the way that He intended and understand what it means to be fully human. It is in the incarnation that we see the supremacy of Christ in all things.

Caleb Drahosh \\ Jesus Christ came into the world to expose the things we rely on to make us right with God but have no power to do so. We are given the right to become children of God through new birth—that is not brought about by our family name or physical birth or the resolve of any man—but rather it is brought about by God’s gracious will through faith in Jesus Christ. This new birth gives us the freedom to "do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."
